Corvette Stalker
Out last night getting some ice cream. When I come out, a truck parked behind me honks and a older guy jumps out and asks what year my car is. I tell him it's a 2000, he gets all excited introduces himself to me and says "I've got a 2003 that is just like it" he convinces me to follow him a couple of blocks to his place. He unlocks the garage and shows me a pristine 2003 black coupe (identical to mine) with only 400 miles on it. We spend a few minutes talking about vette's etc. He thanks me for coming over and watches me drive off.
I've never had a car before that gets this kind of response from people.. amazing....
well, you did your good deed for the day, he was probably lonely... at lesat he didnt' ask you if you want try on one of his speedos and go in the jacuzzi
Isn't it something how the love of a beautiful automobile makes perfect strangers feel like family? Similar thing happened to me, but I was going to bowl a few games one night when I was pissed at the wife. Saw a white 95 vert in the front parking space. I parked at the back of the lot under a light post. An older guy was standing outside smoking and said, "you parked in a good spot. I parked over there(pointing to a different spot) last week and somebody clipped my front end." We talked for about 4 hours. He owns a black 2004 Z06, his 12th vette, and is the manager of the bowling alley. I've been back about 4 times, and haven't bowled one game! Cheers!
I was at the DMV a few days ago and I got in my car to leave, well, a guy jumps out of the truck parked right in front of me and starts asking me all these questions about my car. He told me he has been waiting for me to come out of the DMV to talk to me about the car. He says he as always wanted one but never had the opportunity to get one. After a while he asks if he can sit in my car, of course I said, "SURE, go ahead". (he had a nice truck and I had the keys in my pocket by the way)
After b.s.ing for about a half hour I said I had to go and get this, he walks out to the sidewalk to watch me drive away. I punched it and he had a huge grin on his face and gave a big thumbs up as I went by him.
I think it is safe to say there is much more to these cars than just transportation.
Just last night, got off the midshift, drove through Taco-Hell. The young guy at the window handed me my meal and asked when he would get a chance to ride. Not being in a hurry, I asked when he had some time off. He replied that since it was late he could sneak a smoke break in 5min. So I pulled around and ate, sure enough he and a friend came out, admired my new toy (98 A4 cpe) and I offered to take them for a quick spin one at time. So, we did exactly that. A quick SPIN, a few donuts and the one said "Dude, my Civic would never do that!" After I told them it was bone stock the jaws dropped the rest of the way to the ground. I love this car and it still amazes me everyday. Left a little rubber on the way out to share the joy of my vette.
I think its awesome to find someone who is into these cars, or get someone else new into it. Something this good is meant to be shared!

That's a GREAT quote!!
I can't tell you how many times in the short 3 months that I've had my car that I have been stopped by a COMPLETE stranger and talked for almost an hour. My girlfriend thought it was a little at first, but now she's realized that they're just more Vette nuts like ME!!

In NYC this story would have been followed with>>>>>Owner found DOA on the side of the road with a Taco Bell Gordita shoved up his A**.
I sure hope the friend was a chick!

I have had numerous people roll down their windows when stopped next to me while at a traffic light and ask me questions about the car (99 coupe). Once we unknowingly held up traffic for several seconds until someone blew their horn behind us.

Funny you should mention that, as I was following him over to his house, I was thinking .... this is kinda like the guy that goes up the a kid on the playground and says "do you like dogs little boy? Can you come help me look for mine" except with me it's "do you like corvettes? Do you want to come see mine?"
Guess I'm a little kid a heart.. just with a little more spending money now..
