Default Wheel sensor questions!

Will wheel sensors on wheels taken from a 2002 C5 work on a 2000 C5?

I know 2000 wheel sensors will not work on a 2002 DIC, but is the reverse the same?

I am purchasing some wheels and tires from a 2002 C5 and am hoping the wheel sensors will work on my 2000's DIC?????

Thanks!

Rob

No, sorry, they won't work.

The sensors and receiver changed in 2001 and communicate differently or via a different frequency. The 02 sensors will not be reognized by the receiver in your 00.

Default New question

Been wanting to ask this for a couple weeks. When I replaced my two rear tires the shop broke my right rear sensor and so they replaced it. Had the dealer reset the sensors and it all was great.

After a couple weeks though, that right rear sensor has started to act up. When I first start the car it will 'sometimes' tell me that my tire is flat, or the sensor will read xxxx or it will say check sensors etc. But after a minute of driving it reads just fine again.

Do these sensors take battery's? Could they have put in a used one that needs a new battery? Possibly needs to be reset with the magnet again? It's always the same sensor. Would love to know if this is common and what can fix it permanently.

That's what I was afraid of!

Since I have my 2000 wheels and tire sensors, can I mount them in my 2002 wheels?

I have heard the valve stem holes are different sizes. Is there a modification to make my 2000 sensors fit in the 2002 wheels?

How hard is it to break the side of the Run-Flat tires down to get to the sensors so I can switch them?

If they are different in size or weight, will the tire need to be re-balanced????

Thanks!

There is no problem with your pressure sensor.
The wheel sensors only pick up the pressure signals after the car has reached a certain speed. You will get no readings (XXX) until that speed is reached. I believe it is 5 or 10 miles per hour. After that your sensors will tell you the pressure readings until your car is shut off again.

Yes - the sensors take batteries, and they are not really replaceable. Nericreations repairs/replaces batteries and they're a Forum vendor.

No, they will not work. You will need sensors for the '97-'00 cars.
