Intakes: Any reliability issues associated with them?
I have been checking out the various intakes out there...and it seems that either the Blackwing or the Halltech Stinger is the way to go...and of these two the Stinger seems to be a bit more favored.
Are there any reliability issues associated with them? The reason I ask is that I know other cars, such as Nissan Maximas, have had problems with their MAF sensors failing as a result of aftermarket intakes.
On a side note...why not just do the zip-tie mod that I have read about? Uber-cheap way to go.
I had the surging issue with my halltech after cleaning the filter. I switched to the blackwing. The blackwing looks stock, massive surface area, super easy install, far less water worries (although the halltech never had problems with water) and the surging issue never happens unless you start cutting holes int he radiator shroud. Blackwing was 225 and I am very happy with it. You want something cheap I will clean up the old halltech intake and sell it! Its an older model, tric.
Just make sure that you don't over oil the filter because that could cause problems
The only issues I've heard of are lean codes generated by Z06s with aftermarket intake systems. These cars have no MAF screen, which smoothes out turbulent flow to the MAF wires.
I've had my Halltech Stinger-R since May, drive my car almost every work day, have performed my cold air induction mod, and have had no issues regarding drivability. This is truly the best bang for the buck out there.
