Okay, now I've got a question.

What do you do to prepare the car to drag race?

In the old days, we'd let air out of the tires, take the air filter out, maybe jerk the back seat out of the car. I'd damn sure get a tuneup before I ran, but that was before electronic ignition and plugs good for 100k. What do you guys do today...within reason?

Don't remove your air filter or you'll be running to lean, don't ask me why but I have seen a couple people prove this with a wide band and as far as the tires, I ran drag radials with 15 psi

Thanks, guys, for all your input. You guys are great!! Nope, we haven't raced yet. There are only 3 test-n-tune days left before this track closes for the rest of the year. I'm hoping to make it to one (or two) of those. I'll be sure to post the results when I do ... even if I totally embarrass myself. I'll have to do a few practice runs first so I'll know what to expect off the line. I don't want to startle myself if the tires start spinning and I don't expect it.

Let the air out of the tires???? I've never drag raced on the track but I would think you would want to over presuurize the tires, at least the front, maybe decrease the rears, to reduce friction. Again, I'm a never done that. It's like when my girlfriends mother says....

I run bracket racing so I try to just be consistent at the track.

BUT of course we all want to go faster.
All I do is try to show up with 1/4 tank of fuel or less. Put 50 lbs air in the front tires, use Drag Radials and take any excess stuff out of the car. That's about it.
