Number/Registration Plate Sizes?
My 2000 C5
will be arriving in England (from NY) in a weeks time and I want to get plates made up in advance, so I can drive it away from the docks legally. Can you give me the sizes for both the front and the rear plates.
Many Thanks

Mounting hole spacing is 7" (178mm) center-to-center the long ways, 4 3/4" (120.65mm) center-to-center the short way.
Wouldn't you have to have to use the plates you're issued in England to legally drive it off the dock? I guess I don't quite understand how that works or why/how a US plate would help you...
Until I have officially registered the car I cannot fit the UK Spec plates, so the last digits of the VIN Number can be used as a tempoary measure to drive the Vette to where ever the lights conversion work will be done. I just needed the sizes so I can make up temporary plates that I know will fit when I attach them at the docks.
Thanks again

Congrats on the new Vette.
I had a Camaro in UK and I fitted Motorcycle size plates but I know the regs have tightened up since then.
These guys make custom plates that will fit the housing:

"Strictly for show purposes only"! that said, there are concessions for US cars.
The DVLA site has some good info:

Lus1fer has a great web site that covers the SVA requirement:
