Default Need Rotors

Enjoyed my first track days @ RA Last weekend, but now for the maintanence. What replacement rotors would you suggest that are cheap but as good as stock? Do you have part numbers?

By the way, does VIR do the track days thing or something similar?

Glad to hear you had your Z on the track. More and more ppl are finding out what a corvette can do on a road race circuit. Road America is a long fast track and does teach the limits both of high end speed and braking abilities of your car. So do you have any pictures??

Rotors for track days?? most ppl use the raybestos rotors from Rockauto.com

part numbers 6700 to 6704 about $20 each

or the Raybesos rotors from NAPA. NAPAonline.com part numbers 86700 to 86704 about $25 each

Well lets put it this way. YES

Here is a thread from our last weekend at VIR-South
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=923522

I have done 10 weekends on VIR this year, about 2400 miles

The track itself does not put on events unless you belong to the VIRclub. However, there are many car clubs that put on events.

The next events that a number of corvette forum members are showing up at is the G & W motorsports fall fling weekend. Nov 20 & 21.

$299 for two days of fun

http://www.gandwmotorsports.com

The Audi club is Dec 4-5
http://www.audiclubna.org/chapters/p....html#December

There is an idividual putting on a one day event DEC 6th,the day after Audi. Info is inthe auto-x and roadracing forum

Then there is the Chin Motorsports event
http://www.chinmotorsports.com/

For any and almost all of your track day events look at this web site

http://www.trackschedule.com/sched.html

It has most of the track events east of the Rocky mountains.

Also come on over to the auto-x and road racing forum, most ppl who do track days, racing and autox bench race over there

Hope to see you on the track

How many HPDE-type events (1.5 to 2 hours of track time) are you guys running on a set of these Raybestos rotors?

Also, could someone post the instructions for replacing pads and/or rotors? I can't seem to find a simple service manual for the Z06; mainly need torque settings and any "gotcha's".

Thanks

Default Thanks AU N EGL

Wish to thank you for the enlightenment and time to be so comprehensive with your reply.

I certainly enjoyed the track time at RA. Pushed my car pretty decently, but need better tires next time (had all seasons on--don't ask) and a good track alignment. Thank gosh I put super blue in and track/road pads on!!!!

I will definately do this again. It wasn't as scary as one would think, pushing your 400+ hp car around a track at speeds most people think to be insane. I think you are either a good driver intuitively or you aren't. If you aren't, then it could probably feel much more scary.

Anyway...thanks.

I get maybe three weekends on the track with a set of front rotors and four events with the rears. Some ppl only get two weekends with the raybestos rotors. It all depends on your braking skill and the speed you take INTO a corner.

We have seen ppl with drilled and slotted rotors and they get 1 day may be 1 1/2 days with those high dollar hole filled rotors before the cracks start.

Here is a good thread on brake

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=926051

rember to torque the caliper brakets to 125 ft lbs.

FST NUF hope to see you on VIR soon.
