Default Stinger for Z06

I am planning to install a Halltech stinger on my 2004 Z06. It says on the website that reprogramming is required. I assume it means the computer needs reprogramming. How much does reprogramming cost and who could do that in South Florida?

Thanks

Scott

Go back and look through some of the treads for the last month or so regarding Halltech stingers, there is more than just one thread regarding the cure. If you follow the directions you shouldn't have to get a tune. I have an 04 with a Halltech and followed the suggestions from some of the other guys on the forum and haven't shown any codes as of yet. Just do a little Covette Forum research and you will love your Halltech

Thanks for replying, it said even on the website for the stinger that a Z06 would require reprogramming so I was just curious.

Thanks

Bought it for my 03 Z06, installed back in May. It has thrown the lean codes once in 2000 miles. Cleared, no further probs. See this quote from Halltech's site, "If even one fuel cell requires more correction than the computer's "authority", it trips a check engine light and subsequent lean code P0171, P0174 or both. This does not harm your engine, but is a pain in the ***." Read the whole thing here, http://www.corvettec5.com/store/?page=shop/install Looks like the part costs less than a tune.

IMO screened MAFs are a crutch for bad design of the aftermarket intakes and the resultant turbulent flow. My Vararam is causing the same problem but I am hoping it is from the ill fitting K&N filter (forced on me by WCC as being better than the Vararam filter which is BS) which is being replaced tomorrow.

It makes no sense to me to put a high flow intake on and then restrict the airflow with a lower flowing screened MAF. I believe part of the 15 hp gain between the 01 and the later LS6s is partially due to the better flowing screenless MAF. I am not buying the uncalibrated sensor bit since all the upper end aftermarket MAFs are screenless.
