are they welded in 2 places?..front I can see..what about back?
Guys, these do not require welding but it is recomended for best support. Just lay a small bead around the frame of the wheel where you have metal to metal contact. Make sure you dont catch your paint. And not you do not need a lift to install just a drill maybe a welder and jack. (a lift would make it hella easy though)
Just bolted mine on with no welding. They have been working great for over a year now with no problems.
Great mod, especially for lowered cars.
I would be concerned that I would become complacent and expect it to always protect me when in fact if the curb is high enough it will take out the nose even before the wheels land.

Yes. On their website, it is stated as being "optional." However, I had a concern that an impact at just the right angle might cause it to rotate on axis, thus making things worse.
Here are a couple of pics of mine. The vette is not on a lift. It's tough to get a pic since the car is only 3 1/4" off the ground... I guess I need to clean under there...

======================================== ======== you are correct sir...
I talked with Andy about this and he said that it is a good idea to just tack weld the frame in the front and back..that is what he does and for Petes sake hes the one that sells the frame savers...

I bought mine to just protect my new skid bars from getting scraped/banged up. My previous ones got pretty beat up after I lowered my car (with stock bolts, not cutting any bushings). To my knowledge, these aren't meant to protect the front fascia from getting scraped/hit... just the skid bars.
