Default Twist Tie Method ?? QUESTION

My old man asked a good question.......

Isnt the stock air filter paper and wont it just fall apart when it rains ????

I know, I know, this is the cheap way out at the moment.... But my metal straps kept falling off and I remembered reading about it.

Will a K&N be better than the stock paper ??

Or will the 250 blackwing or varam be better worth the cost.

All I have is a 4 tip Borla Stinger on my stock vette.

you could get the performance seal that closes off the front part of the hood and helps keep the water out.

I would recomment buying something like a Halltech (look for a group purchase) or another brand just because they are designed for what you are trying to accomplish.

I have the Halltech and it took about 1.0 hours to install taking my time. The hard part was removing the original filter, but even that was easy.

Here's a couple pics of mine with the K & N before I got the blackwing.

Could get a Z06 airbox cover (bigger opening) for about $35 to put on or take your stock one and do the 'swiss-cheese' mod by cutting some openings in it.

If you get the hood seal, the water should not get into the filter area.

I went with the Blackwing, mostly for increased air flow but also for looks. The Halltech Stinger will do the same thing as the Blackwing.

We have the Blackwing for $229, but the best system on the market would be the MTI true ram air system, $349. The ram air system grabs cold air from outside the car. Give me a call, 281-870-8787 with any questions.
