OK so after driving my car for a week I need more power! Actually I really want a nice cam to compliment the new exhaust sound. nothing too big, but a nice increase in power over the stock '01 cam. A smidge more lope, a tad more aggressive, and maybe another 20 horses. Mind you I do NOT want a drag cam, I need a road race/auto-x cam.

Aside from porting the heads and upping the displacement, or adding FI, I'm not sure what else I can do.

I was looking for a setup like your interested in. I used what is called an "accelerated lift cam" that gives lots of low end but still gives you plenty of mid and high end power. Try this website www.vincihighperformance.com . I received some great information about the performance parts I needed to get what i wanted from my baby.

HMMM this is an interesting question, that although it gets asked and answered alot there are always different ways to look at it.

One problem I think is that we have Z06's and to compound it you and I have 01's which are a one year run. So if we ask the LS1 guys they have different heads if we ask the Z06 guys they have a different starting point as well.

LSx motors can eat up big cams with tuning, and the LS6 cam is already a "peaky" cam IMHO so a big "drag race" as you said it cam wouldn't be a big change. I had a 232/230 on a 114 in my H/C WS6 drove perfect but didn't really come on until 4500 then it was a monster. That same cam in a 230/232 on a 112 would be a hell of a choice IMO basically a Futral MS F13 cam. I was going to install that in my Z06 but then found the "joy" of the Z06 stock and was not sure if I wanted a lopey big cam. So after alot of research I decided on the MTI Stealth II cam which is a 224/220 on a 116. This cam will still be a bit "peaky" but should not loose anything down low and give great power and hold the peak for awhile. It will idle like stock.

The cam with headers and bolt ons (pulley, air intake, elect WP) should get 400rwhp pretty easy without ported heads. I would think you would prefer a standard split for future FI, but it would be fine with Nitrous under a 150 the cam choice is a relatively small factor.

So that is what I ordered and kind of why. Good luck!
