I have a 98 coupe. Most of them have a emblems on the rear hatch, Mine is one that doesn't. Is there some reason as to why? I bought the car used and did not ask when I bought it because it didn't matter.
now that i have seen several pics of others vettes - why is it different?
Anyone have a clue? It doesn't look like it used to be there.
I have noticed that also. Some came with them some didnt. I have a 98 and it has one, and I have seen other 98s that have them and some that dont. Same with some of the other years. I dont know why that is though.

I have a '97. I have an emblem on the rear hatch. There was a period of time when the emblems were coveted and stolen quite a bit. Your's could have been stolen, or simply removed by a previous owner. I would imagine it had one when it left the factory. If you want one, all the major catalog houses sell them.

The previous owner either took it off or it fell off since all C5's came from the factory with a rear emblem. There is no alignment pins on the rear emblem, so taking it off will leave a nice smooth surface. Just go to the dealer and pick up a new one if you want it on there.

Are there any alignment pins on the front nose emblem?
Have you seen anyone run the chrome, after market emblems in place of the factory black ones? I think it might look good on Navy Blue.

I don't believe their are any aligment pins for the front nose emblem because when i had my hoodliner off i did not see any on the inside of the hood.I think both front and rear emblems on my C5 are glued on at the factory.
All C5's came with nose and tail emblems from the factory. If a car is missing them then someone (owner or they were stolen), took them off.
All front emblems DO have alignment pins and holes in the nose for them. This is to ensure the emblem stays aligned at speed. No emblems are glued on, they are placed on with 3M double sided tape, just like the BSM's.

yes there are alignment pins on the stock front emblem. u didnt see them from inside the hood cause the emblem aint on the hood. its on the bumper. anyway, back to the question on hand, yes all C5's came with both ends wearing emblems but many people remove rear one for looks etc and some have had paint/body work and elected not to restick one....either way if u want one just buy one and stick it on. (FYI if u measure carefully to find center u will be doing much better than the factory as many are off a slight bit, its being noticed more and more when people are putting the CE stripes on and try to use it as a centering point).
also, chrome eblems do look sweet. for me however since i have a silver car i bought two 2003 50th anniv emblems since they were silver and removed the 50th anniversary tag (its only held in place via the adhesive backing so it was easy) and put it in place on mine and it looks very classy in my opinion, silver on silver was good choice.
You are correct about the emblems being off on the rear. I installed Mikes CE stripes on my MS Z06 and thought I did not get them right. After reading the above letter I went outside with a tape and the emblem is off by about an eighth of an inch. Tomorrow I will take the emblem off and remount it and the stripes will be perfect. I thought it was me or the stripes but as usual sorry quality control at GM.
