Default Pilot build?

Sold my 97 for an 01 Z06 and one of the options on this car is "Pilot build".
Can anyone explain this to me?
Thanks in advance.

They were beginning to build the 01Z's and probabely learning how to do it correctly. Bry going a little slower on the line and getting it right. I would say that is a good thing.

Not for sure but I think the Pilot build are for the GM captured fleet when they first start a new model. Then they are auctioned off as used cars to the dealers.

Don't agree at all. Pilot build means an extremly early production model that is not finalized. They are still seeing if everything fits together and some items may change before actual production starts.

You decide if you want a non-finalized car or a finished production model. I would always take the finished production model. I would think that a pilot car would also sell for less money.

I am surprised that they sell them and don't destroy them or use them internally.

In the software industry the term "pilot build" is used to indicate a build of your software in its late beta stage that is distributed (sold) to select customers at a lower price. It is usually a finished, but yet unproven product.
