I have driven manual transmissions my whole life, starting with a three-speed on the column. But I'm frustrated by the "shift 1 to 4" light/feature which comes on when I'm shifting from first to second. I don't "dog" any car I own --- and about 2000 RPMs for each gear change --- but I get this message and have to go from 1 to 4 and can't seem to get the hang of how to keep it from happening.
Help! I need advice as to how to keep this from happening.
The one and only solve for this is to get your car either ls1 edited or Hp Tuner. And since you're paying for the tune you might as well need it, say some headers or something, and a dyno tune!
No really Cags could solve it, but i would recomend just getting the car tuned, even stock you can find some more horsepower and better fuel economy!

If you shift at 2000 RPM's (as you say you do) this will NEVER get in your way and will NEVER force you to shift from 1 to 4

From my manual:
This light will come on when:
- The engine coolant temperature is higher than 120°F (49"C), and
- You are going 15 to 19 mph (24 to 31 km/h) and
- You are at 21 percent throttle or less.
Just give it more gas until the light goes out and then you can grab second.
I usually just give it enough gas that it isn't ever a problem. But I did put in the CAGS eliminator, which is helpful when I'm in stop-and-go rush hour traffic.
