I recently got some Kooks headers installed and have noticed some more scraping noises than before when running over un-even pavement at speed. Now I know from a past post that the Kooks tend to hang real low when not installed just right. I had mine installed by The Vette Doctors so I'm not sure if it's the headers scraping or the body. I went under to look at the underside and holy shiznits the lower rocker panels are scraped up real bad. Now my car is lowered on stock bolts but the construction on the Belt Pkwy is playing havoc with my car. Every patch of wavy road is causing a scraping noise when the car comes down off a bump or a rise at speed (over 50 mph, but less than 70 mph). When I eyeballed the underside I didn't see anything out of the ordinary with the exhaust but the painted portion of the body is clawed!! It used to be scratched in one or two spots but now holy moly!!! Anyone else going through this?
I don't have any problems with my lowered C5 (Z51 option probably helps in this regard), but I know quite a few C5 owners who have installed A&A's frame savers. You should invest in a pair, considering the roads on which you travel. BTW, when I had my 68, the bottoms of my Doug Thorley headers were scraped when they were fairly new.
The nose is protected with skid plates (though the underside is scratched anyway). I'm talking primarily about the sides of the car, in particular under the drivers side door frame.

You must have some really uneven roads. Sounds like you need a set of the frame savers. Sure would not want to hear that scraping sound more than once.

I think Dave meant to say "rocker rails" from A&A's. They make protection for both the front (frame savers) and protection for the rocker panels (rocker rails). The rocker panels are what you describe when you say, "under the drivers side door frame."

Hey David!!! I've got a set of the rails but haven't got them on my car yet. Right now they're keeping my closet from scraping on speed bumps.

Hey Jim! Maybe you can let me have those too since I lowered my car using your aftermarket bolts in the rear. It'd be like a matching set. Shouldn't have one without the other.

I have them both installed. Not a very hard mod to do. I know it's saved me a few times.
