Default New Here

hello,
I'm new here. my dad recently purchased a white 97 c5 targa top last friday. Its all stock. let me say it has been the best out of our 5 other vettes. its a blast to drive and very comfy.

Anyways whats a good performance exhaust? we really don't want anything louder than stock. also what are some good cheap mods, and finally are there any "free" mods? Thanks.

Welcome and congrats to your dad on the C5.

Not sure you'll find a performance exhaust that is not any louder than stock... save yourself the $$$ and keep the stock exhaust. Inexpensive mods, too many to list and depends on how you define inexpensive, just visit some of the forum vendors and shop till your wallet is empty.

Now about them free mods... nothing on or for a Vette is free. Even if it was free, there would be a surcharge on it simple because it is for a Corvette.

Enjoy the C5

Greetings corvettezman and welcome to the forum..

As far as your exhaust questions go, opinions are varied as you will see. If you are trying to let it breath a little without adding too many decibels I would suggest either a Corsa Touring or Z06 Titanium exhaust. Both have a pretty quiet note at idle and cruising but will let you know there is something different at WOT. Both are also relatively free from resonance in the cabin.

Now for the "free" mods. Be a little more specific. What are you looking for, performance, efficiency or appearance. Let us know, we're here to help

Don't forget to wave

If you want to keep the stock sound, just get some chrome tips for looks that make the exhaust pipes look bigger/more aggressive. That'll save you some $$.

Elsewhere on this forum is a thread discussing a "free" mod involving cutting holes in the air intake cover. It allows more air into the intake system for better performance.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Welcome and enjoy!!!

Your best bet as far as a better performing exhaust with low sound is probably the Z06 titanium exhaust. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Welcome and enjoy!!

Your best bet would be the Z06 titanium exhaust. It performs better than stock and is not loud.

Welcome to the forum!

Corsa Touring sounds like what you might be looking for. Plus their tips are
the best out there (IMO). Heres their web site;

no he's had that many in my lifetime and this one is his and mine's favorite. but i do wish i had 6 vettes in the driveway right now, one for every gen.

what i meant by free mods is that on my camaro there is a free tb mod you can do somehting like that, like performance wise i guess. but what other free mods are there? you mentioned appearance?
