what i meant by free mods is that on my camaro there is a free tb mod you can do somehting like that, like performance wise i guess. but what other free mods are there? you mentioned appearance?
While I'd agree with the early post that "Nothings ever free for a Corvette" there are some low cost things you can do. For performance there are modifications that you can make to the airbox to let it breath easier by drilling additional holes in the air box cover. Another is known as the zip-tie mod. Here's a thread that talks about some of these:

For a few dollars you can add a TB bypass kit. You'll get varying opinions on the real benefit to this, if any. You can find some details on that here:

For appearance, well, you can add a nice touch to your car by painting the calipers and rotors if they are not all ready done with a $5.00 can of spray paint.

You'll never get a consensus from this group on which wax or polish to use but I suspect that everyone that's used it will tell you to strip your current wax using Dawn dishsoap and go over the entire surface with a claybar and then apply your favorite wax or polish, most see a noteable difference in the finish after this.

Clean up the engine bay. Here's a couple of different approaches to doing this.

Just some thoughts,
Paul

Welcome to the forum and congrats to you and your Dad on the C5. I have a set of B&B Route 66 exhaust on my car and it is not much louder than stock, but it does sound much better than the stock exhaust.

Congradulations and Welcome to the Forum. I chose the Z06 Ti exhaust and the Z06 airbox with a K&N filter and couldent be happier. Just keep checking the Parts for Sale area for the good deals.
