Anyone having a problem with the C5 Bose stereo giving you a power "thump" when the ignition is first turned on? This is happening even with the volume down. Most stereos have a power-on mute to avoid this surge.
I agree it's probably a ground problem, Is it coming from all the speakers or Just one? If it's coming from all then it may be a radio ground issue if it's coming from one then possibly one of the amps my need a new ground. Hope this helps (This did fix my C4 but I just got a 04 C5 so no problems on the C5 yet)

I had a problem with every sound coming out of the Bose system. JK-I agree it sounds like a ground.
I think it comes from all speakers, but not 100% sure. So can anyone tell me where the ground for the radio is? I had a hard enough time finding a good ground for my radar detector.
This is a 2004 with 2,000 miles on it. I will take it to the dealer at 7,500 if I can't resolve the issue. This didn't happen until recently.
Take it to the dealer..it is still under warranty. Since it is a factory system untouched it is most likely a faulty piece of electronics. Not likely that the factory ground came loose and if it did the products would not work at all...not cause a turn on thump. Either the output from the radio is bad or the input to the amp is bad. Either way just take it to the dealer and have them swap electronics till it is gone.
