I purchased tires from Discount Tire a couple of weeks ago. Since I have noticed that I have been scrapping the dam more than usual and a friend and I noticed that the fronts are 40 ratio instead of 45's. Now the question. Will this screw up Active Handling if the aspect ratio is different. I like the look of the lower ratio and could probably deal with the scrapping of the dam. But if this compromises the A/H I want the proper tires on the car. Any input is appreciated. TIA
I dunno how much of an affect it would have but if you are that concerned the dealer can reprogram your computer to match the new tires my local dealer quoted me 1/2 labor for it. $37.50
Since your front tires are now almost an inch shorter, (lowering the car by 1/2") your computer will require even more rear wheel spin before it will engage the traction control. The rear tires are turning even slower in relation to the fronts. (Sort of like desensitizing the traction control) AH may be somewhat affected as well. This may or may not be acceptable to you but either way, if they installed the wrong tires, I would make them correct it.
Thanks for your replies. I just got back for Discount Tire. I don't have enough praise for these guys. They will try to get the new 45's for the weekend and we'll get them changed out on Saturday. Great service and customer care. I'll feel better with the right sizes on there. Thanks again for you input.
