with Zilla. Vettes are less likely to be stolen, but get good insurance and forget about it.
The majority of the black market pieces are: the engine, seats and some dash pieces. Cars like Hondas are more valuable for there parts because the parts seperately fetch more, opposed to Vette pieces which are bigger, and less "in demand".
I just saw a recovered Vette (I'll get some pix). It was considered stripped .. get this ... only the center console was missing. The vert roof was cut to gain entry. Everything else was intact.
When I bought my car the insurance premium was lower than estimated because my insurance company considered the cost of theft/repair to be lower than other comparable cars.
there have been three or four post on this forum in the last few months,, two were stolen right from their garage,, one was stollen by kids..18 /19 year olds.. recovered.
There is also tremendous amount of fraud considered to be stolen cars. In my area the Mississippi river "steals" a lot of unwanted cars from owners who park them on the bank in neutral and forget to set the parking brake. The current will move a car to an old scour hole several hundred feet deep a hundred miles away overnight, and within a few days the same car may be covered a hundred feet deep in sand. Most vette owners want to keep their cars.
