Dynamat Project Complete ... ( BIG PIX)
So it rained for a little while today and I bought a new jack for $100 (reg. Price almost $200. Got Craftsman Club Discount) from Sears! Time to try it out! Finished the Dynamat ... triple layer (2 layers in the wheel well, one inside a couple of weeks ago). My car is whisper quiet inside ... No exhaust res., road noise is almost gone completely! I can't even imagine what's gonna happen if I put non-EMT's on it! This is just what I wanted. Here are a couple of pix to share. Oh yeah .. sky cleared ... one nice sky pic. Hope you all enjoy!

You got these results just from adding 3 layers of dynamat in the wheel wells only?
None in the back hatch area or doors?
I'm looking to do some sound reduction and if I can just do the wheel wells and not tear apart the interrior that would be a bonus.
Not exactly ... I did do the whole car. Check out the rest of the pix from a few weeks ago http://imageevent.com/myvettedream/d...55t2.buffalo_s I only finished the project today. It took me 15 hrs. the first day , 1 & 1/2 hours to do the doors last week, and 1 & 1/2 hrs to tripe the back and about 4 hours (<---- including Union coffee breaks) today to do the wheel wells. I hope I didn't make it seem like doing ONLY the wheel wells did the trick. It could help, I'm sure, but you still gotta do the WHOLE car. Hope this clears it up.

Thx
Two boxes, containing 36 sq.ft. each (retail about 250.00 each) I paid about $120 a box.. I have nothing left over.
Make sure you check out Dynamt Xtreme. It's different from the original:
1. You don't have to heat it up before sticking it to the surface.
2. No problems with tar smell if / when the area heats up.
3. I think both provide thermal preotection as well. I did the area under the center console and I'm happy to say, I can no longer cook sandwiches in my armrest!

Nice!
I had 1 layer inside the car already in the rear but it is not completely covered since I cannot remove everything.
Look like I will give it a try sometime.
Thanks for some clear pix!

After I did the interior (firewall in the cockpit, etc.) I found that road noise was coming from the rear area most. The cargo area is like a empty box.The front noise is contained in the engine bay, so I didn't think it necessary to do the front wells. I debated it, but it sounds awesome right now. I may throw a double layer on the front wells if I get bored again. Good luck if you decide to go forward!

People often wonder why this material isn't installed at the factory... and now you know why; it's very labor intensive. Might add $4,000 to the MSRP.
That is why the factory tends to use "lay it in" type soundproofing materials - pre cut and can be slung into position in seconds. Sadly though, it's not nearly as effective as dense adhesive backed material is.

finally finished it, good job Dave. I can not believe how quiet it is in the car now, I'm very impressed.
When can I drop mine off for a week to have the same thing done? I figure with your current employer, and your experience installing it already, you should b able to mine in a couple of days. Just let me know.
