Default 4.11's???

I'm having 4.11's installed in my 03 ZO6. I was wondering if anyone has them installed on their car and if so how bad is traction on the street?

If you nailed it w/ the 3:42's, how was that traction? Now take that poor traction & multiply it by at least 5 times (worse). That's how the 4:10's will be.
If you take it easy though, you should have no problems... Just be ready to shift!

I have 4:10's in my C5 and I love them. I ended up talking my Dad into them for his Z06 and he seems to enjoy them alot. Traction wasen't ridiculous with just the 4:10's but you could spin them at will. With the magnuson its just stupid. No traction in the first three gears and part of fourth. Go with the 4:10's. You will have fun. I can set you up with a 4:10 rear end for $900. Add $300 for the hardened shaft. Give me a call. 303 438 1571. Kaley

I keep reading 4.10's are great for the coupe/vert's but to much for the Z06, on the street. Many say 3.90's are a better choice on the Z06, remember the trans is already geared differently than the coupe/vert's.

I would agree that the 3.90's are a better choice for Z06's, and 4.10's are better for Coupe's. 4.10's are a little steep for the Z06 with its already steep transmission gearing.

I have the 4.10's and absolutely love em'!
Traction just depends on your foot, I can smoke them at any time or take it easy and just cruise around normally.
The excelleration is incredible and like said above you have to adjust to shifting lot quicker, especially from 1st to 2nd, when showering down on it.

Traction with the 342 was a challenge, and traction with the 411 is also a challenge. The gears make the car a better driver and you will enjoy using 6th gear at the point you use to use 5th.

Default Traction with 4.10s

In the colder weather traction is a challenge with the 4.10s OR THE 3.42s. In the warmer weather both are much better. With the installation of the 4.10s instead of the 3.42s there is actually a slight horsepower and torque LOSS. But the car is very noticeably faster.

Don't let stories of run away traction problems stop you. You will love the 4.10s. The car is definitely not overgeared. In fact I would go as far to say that if a 4.30 gear ratio were available, I am not sure it would be too much for the street. That would be the upper limit though. And at the track it would force you to shift into 5th gear. In fact some say that the 4.10s will force a 5th gear shift at the track.

Traction problems can be corrected with sticker tires. If you are torn between the 3.90s and the 4.10s?...... go with the 4.10s!!!!

That picture of your Black Z06 is AWESOME!!! Are the wheels CCW streets? And what about the tires? Michelin Pilot Sports? Finally what sizes are both the wheels and the tires? Thanks for any info that you can provide.

I am not sure how much top end is sacrificed with the 4.10s? You will definitely lose some. Myself, it does not matter to me. I don't intend to go that fast. Maybe someone else will chime in on his question?

When is the last time you did 175mph? Or even 160mph? Top end is a non-issue.

You keep saying 4.11's, don't you mean 4.10's?

Your top speed with 4.10 gears will be in 6th gear. I've seen 170mph indicated in 6th gear with the 4.10's in my Coupe. It was kind of weird as I was at 4700rpm or so doing 170mph. haha.

One question..how many guys here that have 3.90s or 4.10s use their car as a daily driver? How many drive long distance, say 500 miles plus? I drive everywhere to include going from GA to MI to visit friends and from GA to NJ to visit family. Would this greatly effect mpg etc over long distance? Just wondering. Thanks.

Yes it will. It will def reduce your fuel economy, it is a matter of physics. If is is a DD, then leave the gearing alone..IMHO

I would agree that for local driving, you will see a significant (ie. >20%) difference in fuel consumption. On the highway, I don't see a significant difference, at worst, ~10% dimunition in fuel economy.
