OC Ca Corvette mechanics

.i've only visited the show room @ corvette mike so i can't speak on anything in regards 2 the mechanics...i've only heard positive things about them though.....i like WCC

* AVOID West Coast Corvette (see below)
* I have heard good things about Corvette Mike's in Anaheim but no personal experience
* Never heard of Don Steves Chevrolet
I had my Corsa exhaust installed at WCC this past week. I had been warned by others to check the tip alignment before I drove off. I did, and it was perfect. It never occured to me to check the alignment of the system. In fact, it was totally misaligned. When I crawled under the car to correct it myself, I found that, contrary to the manufacturer's installation instructions, they had spot-welded the joints, so I couldn't fix it. My car (a daily detailed '04) was also returned in extremely dirty condition. The driver seat and steering wheel both had grease on them (hello dry cleaning bill), as did my custom powder coated rear sway bar. When I removed the grease from the sway bar, I found that they had gouged it down to bare metal in two spots. While I was on my back looking up, I also found that they had gouged the body near the exhaust tips! I know I could have gone back, raised hell, and gotten them to fix things, but I didn't want those monkeys touching my car again. Instead, I drove to VnM and paid Mark to fix the problem. He carefully ground off the welds and aligned it the way it should have been in the first place. He also nicked the sway bar, but rather than keep it a secret, offered me a matching replacement bar in the same powder coat color.
Lesson learned? The most heavily advertised business is not necessarily the best. I should have had VnM do the job in the first place. My recommendation is to either go to VnM in Montclair (easy drive from OC) or Connell Chevrolet in Costa Mesa.
I had new brakes, rotors & fluid flushed there, and the mechanic checked out a bunch of other things for me as a safety check.
Excellent work, resonable price, I recommend them definitely. Best is to schedule something very early in a.m. on an off-day.
Connell is also good for basic stuff (all I can speak to is oil changes there, however).
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I have been car shopping at WCC twice. Both times, they had a bored attitude, as if they did not want to bother with someone as inconsequential as a potential buyer. I do not have experience with their service department, but I would not expect one part of a small company to be poor and the other part to be very good.
I have been to Don Steves for parts, but not for service. I think that I would have no hesitation to go there. It is an old time Chevy dealer with an old time feel, with old-fashioned mechanics instead of service technicians with certificates and manicures but no knowledge.
Some follow up comments that this post reminded me of... When I was calling around on the phone to get ideas and quotes on how to enhance my suspension, two things stand out: one, WCC was only kinda interested but much pricier and two, Corvette Mike offered some good info but I could never get a call back and had to beg (call back 10 times) for a quote... I went elsewhere to get my work done (this was a bad decision as well)...
