If you haven't seen in some of my previous posts. It turns out the wheel hop broke the Diff case which in turn snapped the output shaft of the transmission.

I would like to thank Rodney <crashed 94> for all his help today, and say he orginally built the trans, and will now be building my diff and trans.

Nice pics. I remember having a bit of hop with my first Z06. Glad it never caused serious problems.
Good luck on the rebuild.

Yeh, the hop caused the differential to flex against the transmission case and then crack. Can you save the transmission case?

Time to install the DTE brace to support the diff a little better.

Sorry, btw i'm the one farthest from my car in the picture....It's not like we were working way over our heads to drop something on our feet!

I do plan to find a DTE brace.

Depends what transmission case you're talking about...The adapter that bolts to the differental is toast, but the rest of the transmission is perfect.

BTW, i blew the diff clean off of the transmission, it's hard to see in the pictures but to take the diff off the tranny i had to undo 1 bolt!

Hey Chris...
Never heard of wheel hop breaking the dif...

Either way...GOOD Job!...I was going out Wed but thought it was going to be drizzly...so I stayed at home...

...Kinda glad I didnt have to see this...

So...any changes since you have to rebuild the dif anyway?

Not to suure about changes, i'm only running ~380rwhp, i see no huge need for a 500 dollar output shaft...Sadly i did not break the ring and pinion, although i'm tempted to buy 4.10's and just throw them in. It's all still in the air, anybody know the cheapest for 4.10's?

<edit: I am for sure going to be using a DTE brace

The output shaft shouldnt run $500...I dont think...
and 4.10 ring and pinion as I remember werent that high...

I just dont recommend that you buy a 4.10 dif complete...
...found too many bad parts in the ones Im aware of...
so if you can replace the case...the build out should be worth the change...

Let me know if I can help on Ecklers cost...

Thanks Stuart, it looks as though i'm shipping my whole drive line up to Rodney to let him work his magic yet again. I don't think i'm going to upgrade the gears, the upgraded output shaft runs about 500 bux, I'm going to replace with a stock cryo'd output shaft, and purchase the DTE brace as well. I don't have the traction or the power to snap a shaft, the case broke and sheerd the current shaft.

Wow.. that sucks... Never seen that happen before.

On a side note, I think I met you out at speedworld sometime last year when I had my black Z06, now have a red FRC.

Good Luck getting it all sorted out....
