My 2004 Coupe is a weekend driver. I am traveling for the next 2 weeks.
The Vette will be inactive during that period. Will I have any problems starting the car when I return? How long have any owners left their Corvette's inactive without taking any precautions like battery tenders, etc.?
Yes, I understand that the Optima batteries are better than the original equipment, but I am leaving today for the 2 week period. Will the car be ok for the 2 week period, or do I need to enlist a friend to start the car while I am away? The car is garaged.

It should be fine. many times I have left cars at an airport for two weeks at a time and they fire right up and that include NE winter weather. Besides, what's the owrst that can happen - you need to jump it to start?

with all the posts.
I just had another idea. I'd be glad to "baby-sit". Just leave me the keys and I'll take her out for a run!
Thanks for the replies everybody. RCK1999, bring a warm coat when you come to NYC to babysit my Vette. Also, watch out for the potholes on those WOT runs. NYC roads are the worst.
I've taken several 1 week trips since I got my 2004 coupe last January and haven't had any problems whatsoever after returning. Other than the unknown hazards and fear of leaving it at the airport covered parking, I wouldn't hesitate for a two week trip.

Like someone else mentioned, at your first opportunity, get yourself a Red Top battery.
Some of us have experienced the GM battery dying all of a sudden without any sort of warning. Happened to me 3 months ago. With my Red Top, I now have confidence that my car will start everytime whether it be 5 minutes since last started or 5 weeks.
Mine's not a daily driver, but I do try to drive it at least once a week for 15 or 20 minutes after it has reached full operating temperature. On a few occasions, I have gone upwards of 3 week without driving mine and had no problems. Yours will be fine.
I leave mine as long as a month while my wife and I travel around the country. Original battery still going strong since Dec 29th 2001.
As long as the battery is fully charged, the cables are tight, and clean, you should have no problems upon your return.
If you still have concerns, you should purchase a battery minder.
That will keep the battery at full charge without over charging if it's where you can plug it in.

When you get back purchase a VDC electronics battery minder.
Then you will be all set for the winter.
