Default Who has gotten a speeding ticket??

I got a ticket in my vette today..53 m.p.h. in a 35 zone..I'm not hear to rag on the cop I just need advice from others who tried to fight it...The reason is I have a black on black 99 vette and the cop wrote down red sedan on the fine. It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon so I don't see how he could've gotten the color wrong. Unless he saw a red car speeding and went after me. Do you guys think I could win just on that inconsistancey?? I plan to fight it and havn't had a speeding ticket in 19 years.

A good lawyer should be able to help you beat the ticket.

Which assuming you have a good record and your insurance won't go up, could cost you more than paying the fine.

go and talk to the court. They are usually willing to adjust it down. I am not sure if a LEO makes a mistake on the ticket, but still have the right name and Vin# that you will get out of it so your best defense maybe to plea it lower.

Good luck would like to know the outcome...

I dont know how your laws work in Pa but if they are like most other places a wrong color wont get the ticket dismissed. If your driving record is that good (no tic's in 19 years) I cant see any judge hammering you. Although I will admit judges arent always all that rational.

Unless you actually want your insurance rates to go up, NEVER EVER pay a traffic ticket fine until you have been found guilty.

The first rule in getting out of traffic violations is to always contest the fine, no matter what. If the officer does not show up to court on the given court date, you can plead not guilty and walk away with your driving record unharmed. This is not an internet myth, I've experienced it myself.

If the officer does show up, you still have a lot of options. First of all, the officer must have radar/laser proof, and also documentation stating that he is trained to use such equipment, and the equipment was calibrated. Furthermore, if you were caught on radar (this does not apply to laser), you can argue that a red 4 door sedan was speeding ahead of you. The reason for this is that radars can only detect one vehicle and its speed at a time. If there are 2 or more vehicles in its field of detection, the data will be corrupt and the officer will not know which vehicle is speeding (if any), nor at what speed.

Lastly, if none of the above helps, you can always plea to the crown attorney (before the trial begins) to reduce the speed on the ticket. Furthermore, you can tell the judge that you have an immaculate driving record and request for the fine to be brought down. This will work even after the crown attorney states the fine to be imposed.

I am somewhat skilled in these matters as I have gotten myself, and my friends out of a lot of traffic tickets. Though I am not familiar with the particular laws of your state, I'll be glad to answer any of your questions - just shoot me a message.

Good luck!

Read every word on the citation. In Texas, in small print, there are only certain items that are requirements that must be met for the citation to be valid. Color, year, specific model is NOT one of them.

License plate, drivers license, location of offense, the offense, how obtained (radar - fixed, moving, etc), and that sort of stuff.

May get it knocked down, but NOT a material breach in information to negate the ticket.
