Default Mouse in my car

I went to the garage to get my glasses out of the Corvette. Reached under the drivers seat and scared the crap out of a mouse that ran around (scared me too) and I am not sure if he jumped out of the car. Looking for suggestions on how to assure he is out. Any similar experiences?

Dress up like a piece of cheese and sit on the console. He'll find ya if he's still in there.

Lots of guys up north use moth ***** to keep rodents out of the engine bay when they put the car in storage for the winter. Perhaps a few moth ***** with a strategic crack in the door would coax the little critter out.

What I'm curious about is how he got in there in the first place. Surely there is no crevice in the body large enough for a mouse to crawl in.

This happened to me with my truck, Don't do what I did. I used a regular old mouse trap with peanut butter. I set it on the floor at night. The next morning I got the little critter. The metal bar slashed his little juggler, and bled out all over the floor

Ok for my work truck not ok for the Vette.

Get one of thoes glue or sticky traps, put some peanut butter on it, put it on the floor, then wait, remove from car, then the little critter.

You could always put newspaper down on the driver's side floor with the trap on top. Peanut butter will get him and the paper will save the carpet.

I had one build a good size nest inside the AC/Heater blower fan. I started up the car and the blower was on HIGH. I thought I blew the engine! It made this hellatious rumbling soumd and the entire dash was shaking! I shut the engine off and just before I reached the key all of this lint , dust and bits of leaves were blowing out of the vents!!!

Man,,, what a mess! It took me the better part of an afternoon to get it all cleaned up! I set traps around the wheels of my car (thats how they climb in!) and got two! I set two more traps on the battery and got another!

NEVER EVER leave a rag or paper towel in your engine compartment or battery tray area! That sucker schreded it and made a nest out of one of good red shop rags!

The area under the windshield wipers (plastic cover) is where the HVAC fan motor takes a suction. GM thought it was better to NOT add a varmit guard to keep those damn mice out! If your damper doors are open a certain way (dont know which way or how they fail) the little bugger can get in that way! I hope the C6 is better!

If you leave food in your car it will attract them! They really like Snickers Bars and Gum!

I would set a trap inside. They go bonkers over Peanut Butter! Just put the snap trap on a rag on the floor. If he is in there you will get him!

Good luck

Sorry But! This is kind of hilarious. Not just your predicament, but the other posts are great. Those little buggers can cause a real mess can't they. I am laughing now I just hope I never have to deal with it.

Bear with me for a few and I'll give you the world's best mouse trap. This is for outside the car, in the garage. Maybe you can make a mini version for in the car. Start with a 5 gallon bucket. Drill two holes opposite each other right near the top of the rim. Find a dowel or metal rod that is long enough to cross the diameter of the bucket and fits through your two holes. Take an old 16 oz. soup or beer can and put the rod through the top and bottom. Fit the rod with the can in the middle of it through the bucket holes so that the can is on it's side over the top of the bucket. Now take a 3 foot board and lean it against the top of the bucket. Smear some peanut butter on the can and put 4 inches of water in the bucket. If you still have mice in the area they will come out after dark and go for the peanut butter. When they climb the board they will be inches away from the PB and make the leap. The can will spin and they will go for a swim. This is no . I use this in an old camp. It works. Try it and tell me what you think.

If I had the brains to post pics I would post some. I've thrown out a bucket of water with 6 mice in it from a few nights. No stealing the bait in this setup. Can you believe this is C5 related? Maybe it should be moved to car care.

VICTORY: I got the little schmuck. Nite Nite! A trap with some bird seed about five feet from the car got him within two hours!

Good thing I saw him in the car in the garage vs driving at 60+ mph. Anyway, he was more scared than me. RIP.

Thanks for all the suggestions and the humor.
