I have had me dream car for almost a month and this morning my mother backed into it. I was parked behind her truck, driver side door about where her trailer hitch is, and we were standing there talking, the conversation ended and we both got into our vehicles. Well befroe I could even get going I saw her bakding up in my peripherial (SP) vision. I dropped the car into drive and stomped on the gas but was unable to get completely out of the way. Her trailer hitch made impact just behind the rear wheel puncturing the fiberglass and ripping the rear plastic tail piece. I was sick. It was very hard to stay composed and not yell.
Anyhow, any suggestions on what to look for in collision center this is my baby and I don't want just any bondo slinger messing with my car.
Replacing the panels will make it as good a new. Try to find a really competent painter as this will probably be the only thing that could make it any different than before. Good Luck.
Sounds like a straightforward repair, you shouldn't have any issues.
Good luck with your mother, I bet she feels horrible. It was an accident, so be easy on her. Think of it this way, now you have an open account for all the woman driver jokes you can think of...
Thanks for the replies. My mother does feel bad about it, she knows how I felt about this car, and I was easy on her. I think the best part about this is just a couple of months ago her husband (step-dad) backed into a car at a dealership and she gave him hell about it. I asked her how she felt now about being so hard on him, that brought a smile to her face.
Question; I knwo the back plastic piece is sperate but is the rear quarter panel a seperate piece that can be replaced or does it have to be repaired.

- not laughing at your misfortune, but the story with the dealership and the aftermath was funny

No doubt whenever you see your precious ride hit fo rthe first timeyou can't imagine it ever being whole again... luckily ever panel is relatively easy to replace. Patches has posted this great pic showing each piece... click for thread
Shawn, where are you located? I'm in Jax and my car was in an accident a week ago. I posted on here about repair shops in Jax and the responses led me to choose my shop. I haven't seen the work yet but so far so good.
Good luck. I know how you feel.
Just took my 99 in today to get the rear bumper replaced where someone hit me when I was backing out. I will get it back Monday with new bumper & I'll put the old one on the wall for display.

My Mom did the same thing to my Hurst/Olds.
Backing out she started at my front fender and didn't stop til she hit the rear quarter.
Needless to say I was PISSED.
To make matters worse neither her car insurance or mine would cover the damage being it happened in the driveway! It fell under the homeowners. This made my Dad p/o'd!
I still give her crap to this day about her driving.
