I noticed that most members change their oil before storing the vette for the winter, is that the only oil change in a years time for non daily drivers?
I would say that if one goes by the DIC oil life remaining message, unless you drive more than 10-12,000 miles per year, you would only need to change the oil once per year. I will change my oil before winter storage, with only about 3000 miles on the current oil. (I only have had this Vette for 5 months).
Next year, I should have more miles, but unlikely to exceed 10,000 in 2005. So, I will probably only change it once per year, before winter storage.
Moblie 1 is a great product and show virtually no (NO) wear if maintained correctly. It is widely used in the commercial aircraft industry and is prescribed by both GE and Rolls Royce for their \hi-bypass turbines.
Point I am making here is that the DIC information is pretty good for a rule of thumb. I drive less than 10,000 miles a year and I change at each 5,000 mile interval. Did this on my Trans Am GT and put 84,000 miles of trouble free fun on her.
every 3K during the driving season and then before it hibernates no matter how long since the last change. The big reason (for me) to change the oil before you put it away is that moisture can/will collect in the oil (even Mobil 1) which is normally burned off by (fully warmed up operating temp) driving. I don't want to take a chance that there is moisture in there when I put it away - changing minimizes/eliminates that risk.

Why not just take the car out for a long ride to get it good and hot to burn off the moisture befor putting it away?
