Default Small problem this morning

I stopped to get gas this morning ($2.20/gal ... still no decrease) and when I got in to leave, turned the key, and ... nothing! The panel lights lit up fine, but the engine would not turn over.

It acted like it was still in Drive, so I dropped out of Park, down to Drive, then back again. That worked. It's possible that I had not gotten it into Park hard enough to activate the switch, but I was a little paranoid that something was wrong. Fortunately, no column lock.

That is really embarrasing when it happens just at the point when someone remarks "nice car"...... This past weekend my GF and I got into mine and the key would not even turn.... locked up tight as hell ... had it at the dealership and they say they can't find anything wrong. So I really understand the paranoia. Have a great day and keep in mind the weekend is drawing near

That is exactly the same scenario that led to my broken shifter cable!!
Happened once and I did what you did then about 2 weeks later same thing and it would not start no matter what...had to have it towed and it turned out to be a broken shifter cable/linkage! Does yours feel crisp from 1 to 2 to 3 etc???? ( No I don't shift it manually) Mine felt like it was not properly engaging in the detents of those positions. Hope yours is not going this way.

Thanks. Now I'm really paranoid. No, it seems to go through the gears ok ... probably was just operator error ... I hope.

"Try picking up a girl for a first date and having the column lock bug bite you... " ... Yeah, I can just imagine that happening.

I thought these things only happened to me. But then I read the post yesterday about the guy that had pushed his Vert forward and ran over his toe ....

Gas is always cheaper in Birmingham (but not usually $.25!). One reason is that our gasoline, even for the airport, is trucked here from Birmingham.

Environmentalists so far have kept a pipeline out (even though a couple hundred tankers full of gasoline driving up I-65 every day has got to be more dangerous).

Sounds like cable stretch or the park sensor is acting up.

actually i remember a post not too long ago about somebody actually having this happen to them. Somebody at a gas station remarked how nice the car was, he replied about how reliable it was and then he got a column lockup or something.
