Default Etiquet Issue???

I probably should have asked this already, but are there etiquet issues I should be aware of regarding posting thread topics, other than common sense (which I realize everyone doesn't have so please don't slam me). Just want to be totally educated as to what is a no no. I've seen the "IBTL" deal, and get that, but what exactly is frowned on. I noticed someone posted a thread about Zaino and someone suggested that topic should be discussed in the "Car Care" section which I couldn't find. Just want to watch my P's & Q's. Thanks.

P.S. I want to mention that I have been visiting the Forum since early September (when I bought my first Vette ) and read through a lot of the threads before signing up in Early November. Great Forum.

Car care is under the thread header "general corvette".
As far as what to post or how to do it, just lurk around and read other posts. If you're being funny make sure everyknows that (use a smilie to the right if you need to) or you may get flamed or called out.
Really, just post, have fun, and don't worry too much about it.

Good question - this forum is a great place and there are a few things that keep it that way.

First, there are several forums available - if you pull down the Forums menu you'll see the various forums available, from generation specific areas (like or C5) to help to regional and general areas.

C5 general should be used for general questions or topics related to C5s - pretty simple to understand. If you have general things that are not related to C5s, or even to Corvettes, there is an Off Topic forum available for them.

Have fun

Link to Car Care Products.

Also, here's another Forum usage tip. If you click on the red C5 convertible at the very top left of this page, this will bring up an index of all the forums here. The index also shows discussion topics that are appropriate for each of the forums. Clicking on any one of the forums there will take you to that forum.

You can also go to the other forums by 1) using the Forum Jump drop down box at the bottom of this page or 2) clicking on Forums at the very left of the red menu bar toward the top of this page.

Hope this helps.

This is what I was looking for, thanks GrayC5. Also to all the reply's, I agree.

Here are the Forum Guidelines and Rules that everyone is to follow.

The Forum Index lists all the forums here and appropriate topics for discussion in each. One of the reasons threads get locked or moved is because the topic is more appropriate for and should have been posted in another forum.

Note: An easy way to find the Forum Index is to click on the red C5 convertible at the very top left of this page.

Just follow the Forum Guidelines and Rules and post your topics in the appropriate forum and you will do fine here.

Again, welcome ...and may you have a most enjoyable experience here on the Forum!

Another question from a relatively new member:

What are the little icons to the left of messages. Such as the yellow pedestrian, the green or blue dot and triangular 1?

Thanks.

Thanks.
Pedestrian = AOL Instant Messenger

Green dot = online
Blue dot = offline

Triangle = complain about a member (usually for being abusive or threatening - that kind of thing)

You can add you IM name to your profile and the little "pedestrian" will appear under your name - like mine

Your starting out just fine. Hang in this place gets addictive. Especially in the winter when a lot of us can't drive the cars.

You got that right, Stock Man...I find myself on here way too much...But then, some guys have 50+ posts per day! Wonder if they have a life outside of cars and computers. Come to think of it, what else, besides wife and work, is there??

BTW, somebody please tell me what ttt stands for... Thanks...

ttt = to the top. i.e. it keeps the post alive and at the top of the page

my rule of thumb is that I won't post anything that i wouldn't say to your face, good or bad.

I would need to know if you are a male or female to answer that with the correct amount of humor and jest.
