This morning when I cranked my baby I got a “Charge system fault” It was only there a couple of seconds. I probably wouldn’t have seen it but I look at it to see if the “Service tire monitoring system” comes up. I have a LR sensor that comes and goes.
Is my bat. Or alternator about to fail? Am I talking to my self? It is 6:33 in the morning and I need to go get a cup!
I got that message on my Z06 one day, ignored it. A couple weeks later it came back,, ignored it again. Finally it decided to make me take notice and refused to start... In my case it was an indication that the battery was about to go South, but I think it really means a low voltage situation for whatever reason.
it could be nothing..keep an eye on the codes. I have had this happen a few times..when I had my car at the dealer for some recall work,,they double, triple checked everything and it was fine. I have not had the message come up in the last 3 or 4 months...
I would be somewhat cautious though..it's possible it could be an Alternator or Battery.
This happend to me right before the Batt. died. When I changed the battery out I found that the positive bolt was broken in half , I am sure that caused some sparking which may have caused the code also. Besure to check you lug bolts for cracks also.
What year is your car and what type of battery is in it. I would be thinking of having my battery checked - it could be marginal
My car is an 01 A4 coupe with 48,000 miles. I don’t know what kind of battery it has.
On a side note my son-in-law just had to replace his battery in his 01 Zo6. But his car sets a lot because he travels a lot. He is in Alaska right now freezing his tail off
Thanks guys, if I hadn’t been looking at it I might not have even seen it!
