invert seal?
Has anyone ever placed the "hood seal fix" on the hood itself instead of where everyone else puts it? Seems like it would be less visible. Just curious as I;m about to add this 10hp mod
Interesting idea. I've got mine on the conventional way....never even thought about doing it the other way. I guess it would work....only one way to find out............let us know.

I'm thinking that if you installed it far enough back under the hood lip to be "less visible", it could create a semi-permanent "trough" for water and/or other debris (mud, dirt, etc) in the area in front of the seal. With no seal at least water has a way to drain out quickly. If the hood seal is installed as per instructions, it prevents water, etc from getting in in the first place. Seems to me: either no seal, or seal on body
Check this out! The hood seal that you currently have on your fenders will fit on the front and seal just as good if not better than the bulb seal everyone is adding. I have a ZO6 and installed this type of seal all the way around the trunk. It looks very cool and keep alot of the dirt and water out. I have pictures of the installation but can not post them until Monday.

Bill, I've been thinking about something along these same lines on my FRC trunk too. We share the same problem (and trunk lid). Open the trunk when it's been raining and water gets into your trunk from the rear edge of the deck lid.
Please put your pix up when you can.

I was not thinking of moving it back farther, but rather being on the hood so that the contact points are the same. Only difference would be that with the hood up you wouldn't see the seal on the front facia and the rubber would be turned in towards the engine bay.
This Mod does not eliminate ALL of the water problem but it sure helps and it makes a B I G difference in the amount of dirt and trash that use to get in there!
It also makes the trunk look "finished"! Easy but EXPENSIVE mod! That stuff must be made out of GOLD It like $20 a pack and it takes 3 packs believe it or not! One strip will not do the entire width of a trunk lid. I cut a strip and made a seam in the middle of the trunk opening. The back has two seams but you can not see them very easy. Look good!
I will post pictures as soon as I get my camera software back.

I'm familiar with the weatherstripping you're speaking of as I have replaced one of mine when I detected some cracking/splitting. You're right about being a little pricey. Even when buying it through Fichtner. I've glanced at some of the weatherstripping offered in the J C Whitney catalog. I'm a little undecided on the "profile" or shape. It is one heck of a lot cheaper though.

When you really think about it..thats not very expensive...you don't have to do it very often ...and its less than a carton of cigarettes for each seal...geeze...if you can afford the vette surely you can afford to keep it up ...$60????..ooooommmyyyyygggggoooooddddd ..
Welll,,,, MR smarty butt,,,, the point I was trying to make was $20 for a $5 gasket! I didnt care if it was $60, I would have still bought it. I just hate to pay the "CORVETTE TAX"
