Default Opaque HUD display

I have a '01 C5 with a HUD display that appears to be going opaque . The clear plastic cover over the display is fogging up like it does with plastic headlamps on other older cars. Has anyone else seen this happen on their HUDs? Or could it have been the previous owner using the wrong cleaner on it? What would be the best thing to use to clean/polish the plastic cover of the display to it's original crystal clear condition?

For plastic, Plexus is best IMO.

Windex or any other cleaner with ammonia will fog plastic. We tested that at GM about ten years ago, and found out that this was what was fogging some of the I/P cluster lenses. Meguiar's Clear Plastic Polish (Number 10) is what we recommended for cleaning. We found out you didn't need much. So, it should work for the HUD lens.
When I clean my windshield, I lay a rag over the HUD to prevent any of the cleaner from getting directly on the lens. To clean the lens, I make sure to use a clean towel with only water.

Default Looked all over Town

Thanks guys for the tips; I went all over town looking for Meguires or Plexus stuff, but all I found was Mothers plastic polish. I didn't want to get it yet before checking if anyones used it with good results. Has anyone used Mothers plastic polish?

I don't even know how you would get your hand down there to polish that plastic without taking the whole dash apart.

Mine has not done this. I have used Stoners on a clean rag before to just wipe it carefully. Hope that doesn't hurt it.

You can use the flat of your hand to reach in and clean off the lens. i do that quite often with a clean damp rag.

Can't say anything about Mother's never tried it. Just remember when you use the Meguiars to use it very, very sparingly. Just dampen the cloth and lightly rub, then wipe off. Again, I have never tried this on a HUD, but it worked for I/P cluster lenses.
If you can't find the Meguiars, try rubbing it really good with a soapy damp rag. You might just have some polymer outgas by-products on the lens, and soapy water will help to get that off. Just make sure the rag is damp, don't want any water dripping down behind the cluster.
