Default Help! Help! Help!

I let a relative drive the white 98 today. They kinda pulled into the garage a little too far, and put a nice dent in the plastic just below the driver side Zo6 screen. I managed to get it out most of the way. There is still a ripple in the plastic where the dent was. Threre is also some minor cracking of the paint where this mishap occurred. What I would like to know is:

A. How much would a new front end cost?

B. Is there anything I could possibly do to get the small ripple out? Could this possibly be heated up and pressed out by a body shop?

Its not that bad, but if I was at a show and it was shined up people would say nice vette what happened to the front end! Please feel free to give any other comments or suggestions.

Thanks,
Bob

Unless you have the necessary skills, you're best bet would probably be to take it to a trusted body shop and let them advise and give you an estimate on the fix. Good luck!

Don't let anyone else drive your baby unless they treat it with the same reverence and respect that you do.

But, hey - it's your car, so who am I to gainsay you?

JMHO.

make sure you take it to a reputable body shop so you dont get screwed with the work or the price, shouldnt be that much...maybe $50-100 to make it look brand new again?

I agree, take it to a good body shop and see what they say. Hopefully they can get it smoothed out without much trouble.

Ahhhhhhh family... the last time I let my dad drive my car, he was trying to show off in front of a small family get together as he pulled up into the driveway... and he ran over my plastic carwash bucket! No damage done, just put a lemon in his pride... and my bucket popped right back into position after he backed off of it.

Like I said, it was the LAST time I let him drive...

Bob, take it to a body shop, at least for an estimate.
I was born in Murray and my parents went to Murray State...small world.

I agree... a body shop is the right place to get advice, but I would find one in your area that has experience with Vettes! You might check with some other Vette owners and ask if they have any recommendations!

More than likely the paint is the only thing cracked.

THe body shop might beable to heat it up and pop it out.

But I agree....Make the dumb schmidt pay the bill.

Hi, I grew up in Dover you could see my house in the distance when you look to the right when going over the bridge at Paris Landing by the Power lines going over Tennesse River. My dad later moved to Buchanan right next to you Now on my last few months before retiring in the Air Force.
I'm picking up my 99 vert tomorrow with a new rear bumper it cost $1k with paint & labor. The other guys insurance is paying for it.
Later
