I've heard that the Tail of the Dragon mentioned above is outstanding. Around here, we have a few roads that are very curvy and scenic. Highway 179 from Jefferson City to I-70 comes to mind as does Highway 17 which goes from just south of here down towards I-44.
the Delonagah (not sure on spelling) moutains in north GA (at the end of GA 400) are AWSOME! its like a purpose built brand new race track with TONS of twisties and hills
Anybody got anything around St. Louis / Illinois border area? I have been down many back roads in the are, but am looking for something pretty smooth for the vette. I know the local Lotus club took a trip a couple of weeks ago, but not exactly what I would recommend for low riding sports cars.
I tell you what budy. Ship your vet over here to see me for a month. ($900 one way) I can take to the fastest autobahn here. A pretty straight strech that you (if you can) go over 200mph. My record is 194 mph. Oh and it is totally legal. Then I can take you on back road to my house that your car will be sideways more than straight (if you want to drive it that hard), and very little traffic. Then we can go on a drive down the mosel river where there are grape vinyards covering the side of the the hills, and a few castles to stop and look at. After that we can head down to southern Germany and Switz and go castle hunting. There are tons of them down there and the famous Newschewnstien (sp) is down there. My wife and I did this drive When I proposed to her. Absolutly Breath taking. It is worth the trip here and I have a guest room waiting for ya!!!!!!
While there is plenty of half way decent roads here in Ohio to have fun on, but I think the best road for a skilled driver was a road I took with my 63' S/W Coupe back in 69' . It was between San Luis Obispo and Bakersfield.
Has anyone been on it?
Post your best road and best time of year. I would be interested in hearing about some as I travel a lot and would not mind a mild diversion.

I hope you were talkin to me because that is exactly what I want. Long straights, then some twisties, and scenic views. Your wife even looks pretty hot! You are my new best Corvette friend!
You really need to set up a video in the car and tape as long as you can - let us know what we're missing! I'd take one.
Number One Road? Tail of the Dragon on a Tues, Wed or Thur.
Number Two? US 129 below Blairsville GA
Number Three? Cherahola Skyway (by the Dragon)
Number Four? Any of the roads within a 45 mi. radius of Helen GA.
Scenic California state HWY 88 from stuck in Lodi again, CA to South Lake Tahoe. From the rolling farm lands, through the California gold country and Sierra foothills, to the Alpine snow covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada and beautiful Lake Tahoe. Great during the weekdays.
Previouly rated the most scenic drive in the US by AAA.
1. North Cascades Hwy 20, Washington State
2. Yellowstone Park Loop, Wyoming, watch for buffalo
3. Big Sur, California
4. Carcross, Yukon Territory to Skagway, Alaska
5. Hwy 101, Oregon beach route
6. Route 40 Uniontown to Scenery Hill, Pennsylavnnia
7. Snowdonia loop, Wales

I would have to put the cherahola number one. fast corners, slow corners, and only 2 decreasing radius corners in 52 miles.

That is hwy 60 to suches from GA 400. 180 (wolf pen gap) that comes off 60 in suches is just like 129 in north carolina but with out the crowds. Blood mountain connects both and is very fast.
I live in northern Arizona on the road to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, I agree with the post above; any road around here is awesome.
I have another suggestion: Hwy 50 in Nevada, It is called "the loneliest highway in America". It is a spectacular drive and you can see for miles and miles...crank up the music and put the pedal down. This is a late spring though early fall drive.
