I have another suggestion: Hwy 50 in Nevada, It is called "the loneliest highway in America". It is a spectacular drive and you can see for miles and miles...crank up the music and put the pedal down. This is a late spring though early fall drive.
I was on Highway 50 in Nevada weekend before last. In my rearview comes two bats outta hell, a red Porsche Boxster and a Silver C5. They were HAULIN! I was lucky enough that it must have been the point where the Vette had had enough. Bye bye Boxster. The Vette just disappeared. Then the Boxster slowed and I blew by it in my wife's Ford Escape. Go figure!

http://www.sfbmha.com/rides/ridesSB.html Took a rented H-D Heritage Softtail on some of these last winter. Alice's restuarant to Santa Cruz was great! Ground those damn florrboards right down. It was so much fun that I'm going to do it again this January.
While there is plenty of half way decent roads here in Ohio to have fun on, but I think the best road for a skilled driver was a road I took with my 63' S/W Coupe back in 69' . It was between San Luis Obispo and Bakersfield.
Has anyone been on it?
Post your best road and best time of year. I would be interested in hearing about some as I travel a lot and would not mind a mild diversion.
Thanks and Regards
Hi Benpup -
I really thought the road to Hana on Maui was great - 600+ curves in 30 miles. Awesome scenery. It is tight so you cannot go too fast, and there are spots where it is too narrow for two cars to pass, but I have to rate it right up there as one of my all time favorite fun-drives.
Hwy 385 to Spearfish Canyon in the Black hills between Deadwood and Spearfish. Hit the right week in August and you'll have a few (thousand) bikers with you as well!!
Not a secret...lots of traffic...sport bikes/cruisers/Harleys and quite
a few 'other' sports cars...lot's of LEO's...too.
Watch out for the mounties though...they like to hide, shoot you w/ RADAR and then have another mountie write you up!
Go to the website for intel before you ride/drive it!

You were probably on 58...although there are quite a few fun roads up that way...very little traffic, even fewer LEO's....I like to "test" my bikes up in those parts...who says CA sucks
Hwy. 120 into Yosemite valley during the week, spectacular views of Half Dome and El Capitan the whole way in,then stop for lunch at the World Famous Awahnee Inn.I live an hour from there and many other world class drives:Hwy.49,Hwy.108,Hwy.120,Hwy.4,all take you over the sierra nevada mountians and back home in 2-3 hours, god I love California!
I hope you were talkin to me because that is exactly what I want. Long straights, then some twisties, and scenic views. Your wife even looks pretty hot! You are my new best Corvette friend!
You really need to set up a video in the car and tape as long as you can - let us know what we're missing! I'd take one.
Sure talking to whoever wants to come on over. I even have Neurenberg ring (sp). It is a Formula 1 raceway. Only 30 minutes from me. You can take your car on there any weekend they don't have races. If that isn't enough then Hockenhiem is only about 2 hours away (all depends on the speed you drive there). I will see what I can do about getting some vids. I'm sure everyone out there would like to see the vet as top speed.

My record is 194 mph. Oh and it is totally legal. Then I can take you on back road to my house that your car will be sideways more than straight (if you want to drive it that hard), and very little traffic. Then we can go on a drive down the mosel river where there are grape vinyards covering the side of the the hills, and a few castles to stop and look at. After that we can head down to southern Germany and Switz and go castle hunting. There are tons of them down there and the famous Newschewnstien (sp) is down there. My wife and I did this drive When I proposed to her. Absolutly Breath taking. It is worth the trip here and I have a guest room waiting for ya!!!!!!
Now here is an offer one can hardly refuse! It is one of my dreams to drive wide open on the autobahn...it must be quite an incredible experience. Sounds like the other routes you mentioned are incredible too. I have family roots in Germany and would love to see it sometime!

IMO every vet should visit here at least once in it's life. Plus it would be easier to get that wide body kit I started a thread about also!!!
