Default Is the normal?

I have an '04 Z06 that I bought in April. I had it towed to the dealer yesterday because the car has lost all oil pressure. They wrote up a repair ticket and gave me a copy. I was looking it over and noticed a bunch of repairs done to the car back in January. The car was sold to me in April as a new vehicle. According to the repair ticket, a window, a seat and the antenna were replaced and something that I can't make out was repaired.

Is the dealer bound to disclose this prior to selling me the vehicle as new or can they leagally without information like that? Both rockers were badly scratched where they rap under the car when the car was sold to me. Unfortunately, I didn't notice them until I had the car on a lift to put on a Stinger exhaust.

The car was manufactured in Oct. of '03, put in service in Jan. of '04, and sold to me in April of '04. I'm beginning to wonder if the car has a problematic past that the dealer has kept from me.

Becoming skeptical

I'm not sure what you can do legally, but something sounds fishey to me. I'm sure others will chime in with some good advice.

A few things...What was the mileage whne delivered to you?
If sold as new, the warranty will state when it expires. If it
had 200 miles on it then your warranty will expire at 36,200 miles
and 36 months from your delivery date.

The car might have been used for demos.
The dealer can repair items that need fixing without informing you.
Someone could have snapped the antenna and it was replaced.
Nothing sinister about that. A lot of cars sustain some damage
from vadals or showroom morons. It gets fixed and the dealers
aren't so **** about it.

As long as the car was not registered to someone else, it is a new car.
A car with a storied past as a flood car or buy back needs to be
tilted as such. And unless the dealer is a complete A-hole, I doubt
they would do something wierd.

You stated that it was put in service in Jan. 04. Do you mean it
was delivered to the dealer then? The car is put into service the day
it is sold to you as a new car. Should be April 04.

If you noticed damage to the rockers after the fact, why didn't you
report back to the dealer? They might not have noticed it either and
you can't assume they would not believe you didn't do it.

I don't think that there is anything particularly sinister here, but my concern would be why the loss of OP. Thay would bother the heck out of me.
I have a 99" and when I went in for an oil change the mech thought it was an 04' due the undercarriage. Whoever had it took great care in it.

Good Luck and Regards.

Seat and window repairs could have been done under recall for window alignment clips and seat rock. Don't know of any recall work for Z06 antenna though.

Just got off the phone with the service guy. I asked him about the repairs. Apparently the car was displayed at the CA auto show last January. The repairs were for damage that was incurred at the show. They were a window switch was replaced, the antenna was replaced, and the driver side seat back was repaired. That also explains the road rash on the underside of the rockers. The car had 80 miles on it when I got it. The in service date corresponds with the start of the Jan. Auto show.

I did report the damaged rockers to the dealer but they just shrugged their shoulders. The Vette mechanic advised me to live with it because their paint shop might make things worse. He knows from personal experience. Since you can't see the damage unless you get under the car, I let it go.

The dealer I bought the car from isn't the original dealer. They got it from another dealer after the show. That explains why the car was built in Oct. '03 and remained unsold until April '04. Also explains the 80 miles. I guess it's no big deal but I wish they would have explained it to me. Since I got a $54k car for $42k, I guess I can't complain. Also explains why they wouldn't do the same deal on QS Z they also had at the time I bought the yellow one.

He had no info for me regarding the 0 oil pressure situation though. I'm really concerned about that.

I would say that's a deal, but if the car was sold to you as new, then
the in service date should be from the say YOU bought it, not
from when the dealer went to a show. I'd demand the remaining 4
months on the warranty.

Dealers trade cars all the time and as long as they're not registered,
it is a new car.

I almost bought a new Honda Accord last month with 600 miles and
11 months old at the dealer. They used it as a demo car but it is legally
new. Problem was, it was filthy in and out and they wouldn't deal.

Did you really lose oil pressure or did the sender malfunction?

If you did lose pressure, they should tear the engine down check for
damage. Stay on top of this...Good Luck...George

The repair ticket has the in service date of 1/04/04 and the sold date of 4/3/04. I will hold the dealer to the 4/3/04 date as far as the warranty is concerned. From the sound of the motor, I think I've lost oil pressure. The dealer has confirmed there is a definite problem but that is as far as they have gotten so far. I told them to make sure they check the bearings and crank for damage. He said they will be pulling the pan off. Apparently some cars got oil pumps with sticky bypass valves that can hang and cause loss of oil pressure. That may be the issue here. I'm just worried about damage. I didn't run the car for a total of more than a couple of minutes but I don't know how quickly damage can be sustained under a low or no oil pressure situation. Of course, I don't know how long the dealer had the engine running because they told me they did hear the noise so they started the car.

Sounds like you have solved the mystery of all the other repairs. Just hope you can get the oil pressure issue resolved.
