My check engine light came on this afternoon at lunch. There are no messages displayed on the DIC. I checked the Codes and they all had an "H" after them, indicating that they were all history codes, except for one, which I couldn't find in the list. That code was PO422HC. The car is driving fine, and I don't hear any strange noises. Oh, and I already checked the fuel cap. It's on tight. Anyone know what this could be??
Clear all of the codes! Take the car for a drive and if the CHECK ENG light comes on, check the DTC's in the DIC and post what code it displays. I can pull up the codes while I driving down the road. There are a few DTC that only are displayed when the check engine light is on i.e. 10 PCM 0300, engine misfire. If the PCM detects enough misfire counts then it will set a history code.

Cindy - Here are two web sites that have pretty complete lists of the error codes. I agree with Bill Curlee - clear the codes, drive the car and see if a code shows up. If it does, check it against these lists and see if you can figure out the issues.
These lists are not all-inclusive, but they're pretty good. Much as I hate to say it, if you can't figure it out, a trip to the dealer might be in order....
Hello Cindy,
I have the same problem a few times. I never knew what caused it. I changed the type of gas I put in and I have not seen the "check engine light" since. I use Exxon. Just a passing thought.
Thanks for your input, guys!! I took it to the dealership and got it fixed this afternoon. It WAS the gas cap! I had checked that first and the cap was tight, but apparently it was also leaking. They replaced the cap.
WhiteC5Vette, you were correct about the code. It was P0442, not P0422. The codes flash so fast, I must have written it down wrong.

Whew!! That's good news. I thought maybe it was something bad that you had for lunch.
