Default Dilemma!!!

I am trying to decide to buy an extended warranty vs. some mods?
The extended warranty is $2100 via warranty direct. (25 months/25000 miles)
OR.............
Corsa touring with pro-tips, newer rims Y2K chrome, some other minor stuff...LLyods floor mats and cargo mat.
What do you think? Will be keeping the car for awhile - drive it about 10-12000 a year?
These mods wouldn't effect any warranty, but don't want to have that major break down and be screwed.
What do you think????

Default warranty

well, being in the car buissness,i can tell you that 2500 bucks is wayyyyyyyyy to much for an extended warranty of that or any length!if your vette is still under gm's warranty or has low miles on it,i'd look into getting a gmpp first.go to your local chevy dealer and ask.when i bought my 01 in june, the remainder of the gmpp was transferred to me for 35 bucks!when i bought my 95 in 2000,i got one for 1200 bucks.2/24k/100 deductible.whatever you do,i'd think real hard before laying out that kind of money for something that's available for half that price!if you bought it used,se if prior owner had gmpp,if so,have it transferred!good luck.happy thanksgiving.jesse p.s. here's the phone # in my majorguard booklet from GM.1-800-631-5590.CALL THEM and see if there's anything they can do.

I am not eligible for the GMPP
My 98 has 59500 on it. There was a warranty that the previous owner had on the vehicle, but it was only for the power train and the water pump, and trans. The company was Continental Warranty, LTD. It has expired and am I trying to decide. I have not called them yet, but from similar quotes it looks like if I want things covered besides the engine, etc ... it will cost me.
Some of the major items have already been replaced,
water pump - gauranteed for life
Power steering pump @ 40000
Also, the other things that come up with C5's - fuel sending unit, tensioners, window actuators, what ever else was common to fail.

If any one has any other companies that are reputable and a good cost then please let me know. It might make my decision a little easier

I'm kind of in the same spot with mine. My current extended warranty (not Warranty Direct or GMPP) goes to December 05, but I plan to keep the car longer and would like to extend the warranty. Current company doesn't offer any extensions. So I contacted Warranty Direct, Can get a 4 year, 60000 mile warranty Secure Care+ for about $1800 with $100 deductible.

After December, they supposedly will not offer this level of warranty coverage on a 2000 model year car. So I have about a month to decide what I want to do. After just having a $660 repair done to the car under warranty, I am leaning towards going for the additional coverage. Lots of money for the coverage, but a couple of repairs could easily cover that cost.

I didn't know that you could get an extended warranty on a car with that many miles!

I'm trying to decide too. 4 years/60,000 additional on my '03 is about $1800 with zero deductible. I've got 39,000 on it now.

There are several companies out there that will give you coverage up to 100,000 miles, but a routine scheduled maintainence needs to be followed.

Warranty Direct will give you a warranty up to 100k, all you have to do is prove that you change the oil on recommended schedule time. I do all my own work and keep the reciepts for the oil and filters. I only paid $1700 last year with Zero deductable. I have use the warranty 3 times for a total of about 4k in work. They have not given me a hard time yet. Get the Zero ded. if you take your car in twice it pays for itself.

JD .. just a heads up... you can negotiate with them...
The price is good, but you want zero deductable..
call WD and tell them you have a quote for 1800 with 100 deductable..
tell them you will take that deal with zero deductable..
Thats what I did..
if they say NO tell the rep to call you if a when they get a zero deductable sale.. they off free zero deducatable a couple a times a year.
