does anyone had this problem and how did you fix it? I have a 98 convertible and when I close the drivers side window it kinda ends up almost on the outside of the top. Because of this the top is starting to rip (frey) in that corner. The passenger side closes just fine? Is there an easy fix?
Had the same problem, had the top adjusted at the Chev dealership. It is not perfect yet, but the window now enters under the top. Rather then having them work on it again, I just leave the window down very slightly, about 3/16 of a inch, there's no wind noise or wind entry that I can tell. But the only way is adjustment. Maybe someone on this forum can help if they know how to adjust them. This is a known problem with the verts. Mine is a 00, and its on its second top, warranty replacement.
I had the same problem with my 98. They adjust the window, not the top. Bud's chevrolet in St Marys Ohio did mine. Did both windows and everythings fine . P.S. Bill was around $100.00 but they pull the door panels and move the window.
I did mine by adjusting the top. If you fold the top half way, so the front portion is vertical, you will see an adjustment screw out of the middle portion (pointing forward). I forget which way you have to turn it. Try both ways. Just keep track of how many turns you go each way so you don't make the problem any worse if it doesn't work out.
just to confirm, your problem is that the window rubs the top at the window's rear upper corner, right? This adjustment should take care of that.
If your problem is that the window rides over the black tab when you shut it (about middle of the window, on the top), that's a different problem, and requires window adjustment.
I had the same problem with my Y2K car. The idea is to have the window when in the maxium up positon dive under the lip of the top without touching it (the top). This is an adjustment called 'tip-in' and is explained in the shop manuals (vol 3 of 3 page 8-1134). This adjustment along with the 'window height adjustment' (same pages) should fix your problem.
