I had a C4 I paid cash for, my C5 came with a nice fat payment book. It's gonna be painful making those payments while my baby is sitting in the garage! PLUS I'm out there shoveling the DD out of 6 inches of snow!!

Only 1 snowfall so far this year in CT/RI so I am still mobile.

DD is gathering dust because I no longer drive it

Washed Inferno yesterday morning before the thundershowers, garaged it and drove it to work today. Will keep driving it as long as there is no salt/gravel on the road, heavy rain, snow or ice.

I love it and I baby it - but it's a car not a trophy. I get pleasure out of driving it, not admiring it (though I do that too!!)

I'm sure glad that I do not live where you guys are - a couple of months a year is about all I can stand!!

I live in Buffalo and it sucks not being able to drive the vette, its been away for over a month, but you get used it after a few years. After all, as long as your responsible, you can do things in the snow that can't be done in warm weather. And its a good reason to own 2 vehicles

I put mine away Thanksgiving day because we had to carry a bunch of stuff to the Thanksgiving dinner, rode the Harley Friday with some other motorcycling friends, couldn't stand it Saturday, so I backed it out of the driveway and went for a ride, a friend of mine stopped by Sunday and wanted to go for a ride in it, and I decided to drive to work today, tomorrow all hell I'll just drive it thru the whole winter.

Default Winter driving??

I have been reading all the comments about putting up the Vettes for the winter. I live in Chicago and can relate. I have a Harley and it is under covers, nice and cozy for the winter.

However, it is a motorcycle and Vette is a car. I am thinking about purchasing a Vette as my primary vehicle. I will have access to another car for the really snowy days, but I would love to hear thoughts and experience of driving one year round.

Thanks

Now here's the question of the day, would you rather buy a Northern Vette that sleeps during the winter and has half the mileage or a Southern Vette that's driven year round and has twice the miles but isn't rusted from the road salt?

I thought fiberglass didn't rust?

I visit the car wash more often in the winter than I do in the summer. Not the brush kind, the high pressure water kind.

Fun when the spray is icing on the walls. Anyway, my 93 Mercedes (current ride) has absolutely no rust or signs of wear beyond it's age.

You can keep a northern car nice if you work at it. Also...fiberglass does not rust.

They say if you can't say anything nice don't say it all. I had my 98 worked on and will never go back to that dealer again. My new car has only had oil changes so far. Bob

I left my car there (moving in a month) and drove my DD back to South Dakota in the snow storm......after 9 hours driving in a virtual blizzard with no problems (other than going 35mph on the interstate which is normally 75)...got home to my street, hit a curb and today bought a new wheel, 2 new tierods, a camber bolt and an alignment........I thank God it was in my Pontiac and the Vette is stored in a garage!! I'll pull it out on nice days once I fully move down to CO, but until then I just stare longingly at pictures of it..........(don't tell my wife....she thinks of the Vette as my mistress already....!!!!)

I feel your pain. Mine will go into winter storage as soon as it gets repaired in a couple of weeks. I hit a deere 3 weeks ago and ended up with $3100+ worth of damage. Tonight on the way home I seen close to 40+ in the fields. They are thick around here. Live and learn - I should never of been driving it at this time of year.

Same exact deal here. It was cheap to store my C4, making payments on my 5 without driving it, is gay!!

I agree. I'm from Indiana, and I take my vette out at least once a month on dry days in the winter time. Ever take yours out when its 0 degrees. It takes forever to warm up. February is the worst.

If you don't drive them in the Winter, how are they going to get salt on them?
