I have been using synthetics in mine from my very first change at about 800 miles. I used Redline D4 ATF for about 18 months, then changed to AMSOIL ATF about a year ago. This ATF meets DEXRON III specifications.
As a side note, AMSOIL now sells bottle pumps that screw right onto their bottles. They can be found at the bottom of the tranny or gear lube link on their online store.
