Just had a local shop *will remain nameless for the time being*
installed the supermaxx exhaust system in my 1999 FRC, took it for a ride after the install, and its bogged down, from 1200rpm to 2100rpm the car has no guts what so ever above 2100 it just kind of surges, making it hard to drive, I am getting a check engine light, and 2 PCM codes, which I did not have before, they hooked up a predator and it said I was having multiple misfires, they told me that the computer needs to relearn, because it was disconnected all day, and told me to drive it 100miles this weekend and take it back to them, it squeeks a bit now, sounds like the exhaust is hitting the underside. getting codes P0131, P0152, P0300, at highway speeds its fine, but around town it will act fine then all of a sudden bog down, get P0300 then a blinking check engine light, cleared the codes, about a 2 miles down the road give it goes back to normal. Help..
P0131 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1-A
P0152 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit High Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1-A
P0300 Engine Misfire detected-B
The bums probably tried to leave the plugs in the car....change your plugs, and check your o2 sensors....What type of midpipe did you go with? If they modified your original mid pipe you probably need to get them to shorten it just a little bit to prevent the rubbing.
Care must be taken when the O2's are removed and re-installed not to touch the sensing element. I would crawl under the car (make sure it is properly supported) and follow the wiring. The left rear O2 gets plugged in on the right front side and the right rear gets plugged in on the left front side.
For the fronts, they get plugged in on the same side they are installed (left front on left, right front on right). Then check all the wires for possible burning due to improper routing or not tying them up correctly. If all is OK, then check your spark plug wires and make sure both top and bottom are properly seated and on the same amount. Check the spark plug wires for burning as well. If all this is OK, then I would pull the spark plugs and look at them to make sure none are cracked.
The shop fixed the O2 Sensor and say the car is running great now, I am going to go pick her up tonight, they worked with me to get this issue resolved and I am very happy with their level of cusotmer Service to get this issue resolved, thanks for everyone that posted to help me out! I appericate it!
BTW The shop that did my work was DTP in Ches Va, I am not going to hold the mix up against them and they will still get my biz in the future!
Ill post again tonight after I take her for a test drive.
i crossed mine the first time too, but that was the first time i was under the vette. Thats inexcusable for a shop that deals w/ the vette day to day. That's just something you should know.
Also, dont be too suprised if you start getting 0420 and 0430s now. My cats got screwed when I had the front o2s crossed. And I only drove for about 45 mins.
