Excellent, I was wondering the same, thing but on my 2000 FRC there is no way to disable the passenger side airbag that I know of. So I guess no little babies will be riding in there for a while. Or I will have to sell.
We have 2 child seats, both Cosco, and they both fit well in our sport seats. One is an Eddie Bauer model, not sure what the other is.
We recently had a air bag cut-off switch installed in our 2000 coupe. After doing considerable research on the subject I decided that my 3 1/2 year old son was not going to ride in the vette until the air bag was disabled. GM makes this cut-off switch specifically for the 2000 Corvette and a new passenger side seat belt (color matching) is included. We ordered the part from our local dealer and made an appointment to have it installed. We made the two hour drive to the dealer and while we were checking in the vette, the service manager informed me that they could not do the install due to liability issues. I reluctantly paid for the part, (more than a little PO'd that I had just driven 2 hours for nothing).
I had my local mechanic (one hour drive) install the cut-off kit. It was about a 2.5 hour install.
All in all, it cost me an additional $500. I might take this into consideration if I were considering the difference in cost between a 2000 and 2001 (2001 has the cut-off factory installed + a child seat tether) and planned on having a child in the passenger seat.
