Default Cleaning the engine and compartment

Can someone give me some ideas or recommendations on cleaning the engine and engine compartment, without messing anything up or preventing something from going hay wire?
Thanks!

I just wipe it down with a rag. I use Zaino on the plastic parts (rail covers, rad and fendor covers. I clean rag with a little soapy water for the underside of the bare hood spots. I think the trick is to do it every time you wash the Vette. I've found that constant attention keeps it clean enough to make it easy. Only takes a couple of minutes.

FWIW.

Moist rag is usually enough. If its not, spray windex onto a moist rag and wipe around. You can hit the plastic with your favorite plastic/rubber gloss enhancer. Often the same junk you use on your tires will make the plastic look black and shiny.

Mostly a wet rag and some Simple Green!

Use a little solution for the bad spots. I use compressed air to clean a lot of it.

And the ONLY place I use ArmourAll is on the engine. Get it warm and spray the engine down with it. After it cools wipe off access and it will last for months on end with only the earlier mentioned maintanance.

I clean my engine compartment at every wash. I do not spray water in there, but instead take a moist Absorber and wipe down things to get the dust off. If there is a buildup of grease or oil, I will take a rag and use a little Simple Green on it. Of course, I have done this with mine since new, so it has not had the chance to really build up any heavy dirt and grime.

Does anyone here really CLEAN their engine bays? I mean with a hose and degreaser? I've done my car and would like to do the Vette one day because I don't think the previous owner ever did. What should I look out for/cover up?

anything electrical? .. also I've heard of water leaking in the intake and causing waterlog so just be careful.

I like to take the time and effort and do it by hand, but that's just me.

Yeah, I would cover the intake before hand. I actually had a diagram of what to cover when I did my car, that made it much easier.

Orange blast and a water house. Even removed the rail covers to spray water and solvent under them. No problems with electrical everything is waterproof so no worries.
Would'nt use pressure washer.
