I love my FRC...Had it just over a year. See if it has HUD or Dual A/C, those are very rare options...But has others have said, check it over, maybe another c5 owner can go with you. Good luck!!
I've had my 99 FRC since she was new. It was my first Vette and I just love the car. Only 6600 were made in 99/00, so it's the rarest of C5's. Just take the same precautions you would when buying any used car.
Hi Guys,
Thank you for all the advice. I am located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I havent made up my mind yet. I have owned a 1984 since 1995. I like the car but it has recently become my daily driver and I wanted to get something newer. Living in FL, the Vette can be driven year-round which is a plus. I will most likely sell my 84 and just have one car.
I really like the FRC's and love white vettes. 84 is white. I am not in an immediate hurry to buy so I am looking for a good deal.
Here is my thought process:
I always like to customize my cars in some way. Wheels, exhaust, body panels etc. Not going crazy, but just enough to make it may car. Due to the rarity of the FRC's. I was thinking about if I were to get one, customizing it will hurt it's value and appeal. Am I better off just getting a stock, clean coupe or vert and doing what I want to it?
Venomclan,
I’ve had my Hardtop (Sorry, but that’s what Chevy calls it) since I bought it new in 99. The only thing I’ve had to fix was the fuel pump because of noise. If it checks out mechanically, go for it. – C.
Sounds like a great price. I looked at a white on too when I purchased my black 99 FRC. If I remember correctly, that white car is 1 of 155 or something like that. Pretty rare.
Since you live in Ft. Lauderdale, there is a good chance this is the white FRC I told you about in this thread.....Im just curious as to why, after it was listed on ebay 3 times it never sold...???? I wish I could remember the name of the company...Im pretty sure they were in Pompano Beach....If its the same one, I'd be sure and get it checked out by a professional...
Hi Daniel90conv,
I did see this car on Ebay. It is located in Davie. On ebay, they had a buy it now for 18.5, bidding went to 17 and did not meet reserve. I called the guy on the phone after I saw that it did not sell. He said he wants 18k for the car, and had 2 offers for 17.5 that he declined.
I am a little hesitant on buying this one, not because it did not sell on ebay, but because after all the posts, it seems that this car is pretty rare. I live in a condo and have no garage. It would be my daily driver. I do not think I can maintain a rare car in those conditions, especially as a daily. Maybe this car should go to someone else.
I may end up with a regular coupe that I can do minor mods to. I would feel weird modding a vette that is rare to begin with.

LOL...I would buy it in a heartbeat if it checks out....then you can say you have a rare vette to drive around...I love the fact mine has a hud and dual a/c, if I had a dollar for everytime I heard that "99s didnt have HUDs" I'd have a C6 by now I drive mine daily, afterall, thats what cars are for, right??

You can mod that white FRC...the stuff you mentioned in your earlier post.. exhaust , wheels, that stuff is not going to hurt the value of the car..you can always put it back to stock...the only thing I would not mess with is body panels...but I am not sure what you meant by body panels (spoiler??)
I am going going to be in the minority here, but I think 18k for a car with 70k..even though the white FRC is somewhat rare is still too much..I wouldn't pay more than 15k or 16k for it. The FRC's came with a lot less options than the standard coupes/verts
