Hi,
I currently own an 84 Vette and was thinking about getting a C5. I saw a white 99 FRC for sale from a small local independent sports car dealer. The car is very clean in and out. Stock with 70K. He is asking 18k firm. Is this a good price for a nice FRC? Are there any reasons to avoid this model or year? Any problems to look out for? Your advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Jeremy

White is pretty hard to find and that seems like a good price,
actually a real good price. Have a mechanic check it out.
Look for bad tire wear, oil leaks, etc. See if it has had regular
maintenance done and records to prove it. Also, ask if the recalls
were done, there has been a couple.
I love mine and you will find a bunch of die hard FRC
fanatics on this site, including me, who think it is the best looking
C5 body style. Good Luck....
Venom, i bought my torch red FRC bout 6 months ago now.. right off this forum for 18,600 with 75k on the odometer... i have not had one problem with the car.. its awesome, as long as it was taken care of i wouldn't worry bout 70k miles too much i know mine was beaten like a dog.. but its still perfect.. 18k is a very fair price if its in good shape
P.S. btw.. FRC's are the only way to go only grandma's drive hatchbacks....
Venomclan by the way my brother has his 99 pewter FRC for sale, he just bought a 04 Z06. He is in knoxville. Let me know if you are interested I can get you his phone and email. He is not on the forum.
I just bought a pewter '99 FRC about a month ago and I love it. I had a '97 coupe before this one and I gotta say the more I look at it the more I like this body style. The added rigidity is nice, too. Mine has 32k miles on it and I bought it for $18,000. I don't think I've seen a white one before. That would be a great car to have!
Before you purchase it, have the car up on a lift and check out the underside. Check for leaks around the drivetrain componets, look for any underbody damage, and rust on the metal frameing. Take the car for a ride with the stereo OFF! Listen for noises, feel for any vibrations, make sure the car drives straight and check the trans for smooth shifting!
If you can, find another seasoned C5 owner to go with you! He will be MORE OBJECTIVE!
If you can find things wrong with the car, work that out of the asking price!
If you have any questions, please let us know. Where are you located?
Since your bio is not filled out I dont know where you live, But If this is the white FRC that is in the Pompano-Ft.Lauderdale area, I would be very carful. This dealer has had this vette for sale on ebay for a very long time. And he has had it listed for less than $18,000 before with no takers.....If this is not the car....then I agree with everyone else...Go for it....The FRC is the only way to go....I just bought my 99 FRC about 3 months ago with 41,000 miles and in absolutly mint condition for $19,600 and its the best vette I've ever owned.....
Buying a FRC will set you appart from the many coupes/verts i see in my area, plus the lines are so nice. I have people tell me all the time that my vette looks more aggressive then other vettes they see. but thats just me
