THIS IS NOT INTENDED AS A C6 vs. C5 FLAME!! 
The most recent issue tested a 2004 Z06 vs. 2005 C6.
The Z06 was chosen as the winner in performance in both 1/4 mile and circle track. The C6 was right behind. The C6 outperformed the Z06 in braking.
It was VERY close but the Z06 won. The magazine hinted that the C6 Z06 version will "be a monster" according to Dave Hill from GM. 500+HP is most likely NOT a rumor. WOW!

If it comes true, sounds like GM will get the C6 Z06 right. Let's hope so.
