Has anyone used one of the oil change pump systems to change the oil in their car? I see them advertised and it would be nice not to have to jack up the car to do this...but do they work? If they do, which ones would you recommend.
I would like to do this myself but do not like the idea of jacks and jack stands, etc.

I wouldn't do that. There will be sludge left in the pan that would normally drain out with the plug pulled.

If this is the type that goes into the dipstick.....don't bother. It's convenient for a boat or a skidloader but it cannot remove all the oil.
You still need to jack it to change the filter. Some members use those quick lube joints and bring their own oil and filter. Maybe that would be a better option for you.
I agree, I don't think you would get all of the old oil out with a pump. You need to get under the car anyway to change the filter, so you might as well do the drain plug method. I have used a pump on my boat and they do work pretty well though, but I would not use one on my Corvette.
Just get a set of rhino ramps for $20. The C5 will drive right up them very easily (unless it's lowered more than stock) and you'll have tons of room to work under there.

Yeah - they are for changing the oil on boats and applications where you can't do a gravity drain... If you're not comfortable under your car, on Rhino's or jack stands, take it to a professional for an oil change.

I would not use this method to change oil. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, take it to a dealer or a competent oil change facility to do the work.
Where do you get the rino ramps. I use the pucks,, jack and block to insure level. The slightly jack the rear to all oil to drain for 30 minutes. I have never seen ramps low enough for the air dam to clear. vettdvr 99 Nassau Blue
I don't like using the ramps because it causes the pan to slope towards the front and leaving a amall amount of oil that won't drain. I live on a culdesac without much traffic. I back it into the drive, place the tires on the front side of the curb gutter and use the gutter for me to crawl into and access the plug and filter. And just hope my neighbor doesn't start to was his car about the time i start my oil change!
It's really not that hard to change the oil. The first time is always the hardest. But after you know whats required it's not that bad. Plus what ever equipment you get it'll be used for many other projects and mods. My .02
