Default Why do members do this

I have sold quite a few parts on the forum. It is a good avenue for everyone because it makes modding a little less expensive because you can sometimes offset the price by selling your items you have replaced. We help each other this way.

But why do some member go on a sales thread and post comments, prices, and yes even links to ebay to ruin a for sale thread. I dont get it. Please anyone who has not done it go to the rules section if you do not know what I am talking about here and read the rules on the parts for sale. Sorry I am venting a little here and I posted this on general so more people would see this, but this is the second time I have had a for sale thread ruined because someone does not know the rules.
Thanks for listening. Oh by the way it is my sony amp thread that got rained on if anyone would like to see a classic example of this.

I agree, it's rude.

Many people honestly don't know what something is worth when selling. If I think a seller is a little unreasonable in ther price expectations (ie: a new part can be had for same or less price),The best method is to PM that person.

It lets them know, without making them look stupid or affecting their sale.

The same can be said for buyers. I've PM'd a lot of people who've posted an interested in buying something I know won't work for them. They deserve to be informed in such a case.

Default good points

Good points, I would have no problem with a PM or email with some constructive advice. Although on my post I was selling for 75 and he posted an ebay link that sells the item for 64. Really not too sure why, he really did not seem malicious in the wording either I just think the gentlemen was trying to help out would be buyers but it is against the rules.

I can certainly understand your ire and frustration. However, rather than venting in C5 General, I think it would be much more appropriate and better if you were to report those persons violating the rules to the C5 Parts For Sale moderators immediately. To report these violators, just click on the "Report Bad Post" icon under that person's Forum name. I doubt posting this in C5 general is going to do much to cause these type individuals to stop and the moderators actually have the authority to do something this. Hope this helps.

Gray I did send a PM to the moderator first to look at this and also to close the thread for me. But I do learn something new on here everyday. I did not know about about the bad post icon, thank you. I posted this on general as an educational tool for member to see, might work might not.

I see your point. But the for sale section here is a friendly one. As I see it, the people that buy and sell here are trying to recoup some of what they put out. Or get something for less than they can buy it for retail. If I bought something here I don't expect to be able to get a replacement if something is wrong with the item. That's one reason retail is more expensive, to deal with such events. I would certainly not be impressed if someone was selling something for more than retail and made like it's a deal.

Default One more thing

You know I also would like to say I really do not think this guy had bad intentions, if you read his post it seems to me he was just unaware of the effect his post would have on another members thread. A little short sighted but I do not think it was mean spirited. So I am just hoping members will see this and not do the same to anyone.

I see your point but I would say I paid at least double what I was asking for this item when I bought it back in 03. Sony has a new line now and these amps are not made anymore so the price has dropped. The link is for a refurbished ebay sale with a 1 year warrenty, better deal than mine but not by far, and also I had posted for people to make me an offer so I was willing to go down on price. And by the way I had not seen this ebay sale or I would have probably posted a little lower in the first place. I wish he would have just PMed me like the rules section suggests. The problem I have is his post ruined my sale, no one who went to my sales thread is going to buy it from me after his post.

I have taken a couple people to task on sales, but always thru PM's. I just hate to see someone get raped on a used part by paying more than what it can be bought new. I always go to the seller first and let them know. IHMO. Jeff
